just need a lil help identifying an engine. i just got my first flathead and am not very familiar with these. how can i tell what year it is and what it might have been in. its a 24 stud engine, has C883 with the number 59 on the bell housing, and 59 A-B on the head. ive read that this means its a 59 A-B engine but a lil more info would be helpful.
    thanks,
    marc

It's a model 59A, used in Fords and Mercs 1946-48 and also sold by the zillion as Ford's standard replacement engine for prewar V8's. The A and AB designations refer to versions of the cylinder heads themselves.
