I did the crown vic ifs swap and I also put a 99 exploder disk brake rear in the truck . I've have had the truck up and going for awhile with no problems . This past Saturday my brake pedal became very hard and very touchy, to the point if you hit the brakes and let off it feels like their are dragging . I replaced all rubber lines , all hard lines check out and a new M/C I also put a new check valve on the booster no dice . My ? Is if the booster is bad would that cause dragging and a hard pedal ? Before I go and spend some money I thought I might ask the gurus ..
I would change the thread title to get more help, technically you don't have F100 brakes on your truck.
I'm with Chaddilac. I have owned several F100s, and am pretty good with those brakes, but I've never owned a Crown Vic.
^Yep.^ Adjust the pushrod to get 1/8"-3/16" of play between it and the booster. I'd also re-bleed the system to make sure you don't have air expanding once the system heats up, likely causing the drag you felt.
If it worked for awhile why would the pedal rod length change? Crown Vic power boosters had an internal problem where the sliding sleeve would crack or split and cause a hard pedal and dragging brakes, sometimes to the point you had to pull over and shut off the engine to release the brakes.
I have had to pull over because it felt like I was pulling a trailer house , the brakes were stuck so bad !! Guess ill break down and get a booster ordered ..
