Maybe this poll has been done here before, if so go along with me please. Question is about 32 Ford vs. 33/34 Ford. Which do you prefer? I always liked the 33/34 way better. Bodies similar but the grill is crème de la crème and blows the duce grill out of the water. (Having been around the block in this hobby for over 60 years I fully expect to be in the minority.) 32 or 34 Let the debate begin
It depends.... Roadsters? 1932 Five Windows? 1932 Three Windows? 1933-34 Sedans? Draw! Phaeton? 1932 I love the wheelbase on a 1932. There is something magical about that 106" and everything that sits on that ch***is looks good. Every piece on a '32 is beautiful especially the suspension pieces. Grille Shell on a '32 is perfection too but probably not as ***y as a 33-34. The amount of room in a 33-34 is a huge plus. Definitely a car if you need to stretch your legs. It's also amazing just how refined they got in 33/34. They are truly beautiful cars in stock form and about as ***y as they get. I'm on the fence. I own both but I think if I were to own one car right now it would be my '33 3w. It's just a slick design.
One thing is for sure,I can tell right off you are not a 32 guy,,Deuce is the correct spelling not duce. I will take a Deuce any day,,don't particularly care for 33 & 34 Fords. HRP
I prefer the 33-34's but I wouldn't turn down a 32. On second thought....I'll take one of each to go along with my 31.
x2... I hate the 33/34 grille. I mean HATE. I do like the body more, but howbad the grille is out weighs how nice the body is IMO. Now a 34 LSR cars with a "track" type nose is KILLER! (Think So-Cal Coupe)
'32 for me since I have one. I think the '33-34 is sleeker but I dislike the gas tank cover, it's too large and it makes the rear end too long and heavy looking.
I have had both 32's (Roadster and 3 window) and a 33/4 3 window Overall I like the 32 better, but i think the 33/4 grille is downright ***y! (particularly the 33) Especially on a full fendered car (don't really like 33/4 as a highboy anyway)
Personally I wouldn't throw any Ford coupe 32 thru 36 out of my garage. Roadsters are limited to 32 or 36, Tudors 32, 33, 34 are about equal. Each year has elements that appeal to me.
Personally, the '33-'34 is most desireable, for pure style has it all over the '32. Hood louvers, swept back lines at hood sides, leading edges of doors, and windshield sweep. The '33 grille/shell has a curve to it, the '34 is more subtle. When I see someone fit a '32 shell on a '33-'34, the aesthetics of the design are compromised. The familiar pursed-lips vertical 'form' is placed on a swept-back 'Modernaire', as if to 'dull' its entry... Prufer's '34 was a lesson in purity of design.
Def. 32's Ive had both, but 32 in my opinion is the best hotrod. But if anyone is selling a 34 roadster let me know
If I have to choose from those options I choose 32, but honestly I much prefer the 35 to just about anything--36 is ok in coupe/roadster form, but that's it--otherwise it's 35 across the board for me.
Wow, I really didn't expect it to go the way it's going. That said, I was first introduced to a "hot rod" in that George Lucas movie. I was ruined. Then in junior high school I saw a 33/34 chop top, channeled and fenderless, black coupe in a driveway while I was walking to school and then saw it again as it was driving down the block one day. It was the true definition of SINISTER and, in my mind, blew that piss yellow 5 window outta the water looks-wise. I've gotta be a sheep and follow the herd on this one. I'll take mine with a pointy-bottomed grille, please. Straight or concave. Doesn't matter.
33/34's are by far the better looking car......................... but nothing screams Hot Rod like a Deuce. Why, oh why couldn't you give us the option of voting for both????
