Went out Monday and picked up this boat and don't know if I should make a go-kart out of it or make it float again. My daughter doesn't care what I do with it she just wants to drive it.

After spending some time in Scottyville I found that staying in a tent ****s. This Scotty was just down the road from the boat so I guess will add another one to the trailer park. My buddy Sandy said all we need is a plane to add to this pile were hauling home and damn if we didn't find a dis***embled plane for sale on our way back.

Maybe we'll check on that next week.

kinda looks like a hydro kart that i've got in my backyard. they were made in the early 60's powered by go-kart motors and went around 30 miles an hour w/ 175 pound guy and 6 horsepower. that there looks liek it would be able to go around 300 mph w/ a 175 pound guy hahaha.

I'd gut a jetski and run the poo out of it!

  5. I think the boat should definitely see the water again with maybe a fresh metalflake paint job.

I thought about the jet ski idea. I have an old 650 kawasaki jet ski but they have no reverse and that would ****. I'm thinking of mounting a small outboard motor like it had it would have to fly. How about black metalflake with flames.

Fatabone, I remmemmber lookin at one of those boats around 69'. They were putting 40 horse merc's on them and they flew pretty good! check the ratting plate on that thing, it may suprise you! Of course putting a sbc in that would definetly make it fly! That would make a cool hotrod boat!

..........back in the late 60's, ........I had a friend that had a boat that looks similar that was called a GW Invader. He had a brand new 55 outboard on it and that puppy would do close to 70mph on smooth water! A 40 would push that along quite nicely!!

    fatabone,
I had one of those back in the 60's. It was a 10 foot G.W. Invader and I had a 50 Merc with a cupped propped on it. My buddy clocked me at 65mph.
It was pretty cool cause it had 2 bucket seats. I had that thing on the long island sound and used to jump the ferry wakes. What an f'in ball I had with that thing. I remember gettin it standing almost straight up some times. Only my friends with big balls would go in it cause everyone else got scared.
They used to advertise them as ski boats, but with the flat bottom you needed a city block to make turns.
Get it runnin, you'll have a ball.

Maybe I don't know **** about boats, and I really don't, but am I the only who thinks that boat would be a bit nose heavy?

I looks like it would constantly want to dive like a submarine on you, especially when you decide to stop.

On the other hand, that would probably be pretty cool too. Might have a little problem with hydrolocking the engine though...

Here is a picture of my Invader in the late sixties. I would fly and literally slide sideways if you put it into a sharop turn.
From the angle of that engine I think it is a mock up. The angle isn't correct for a shaft drive.

If you look at the background that is Clearwater, Beach Florida and there is only one or two buildings on the south enf of the beach. All Condos and high rises now.

Look close and it's just a dual-quad manifold sitting with valvecovers propped up on it (there's no heads!)

Cool old boat - if it's solid get a light old merc and put it in the water - heck you can find complete (rotted) boats with good outboards out on ebay all the time for dirt....

Two happiest days of a boat owners life...

    The day he buys it....
    The day he sells it....

My family had a scotty like that in the 70s when I was a kid. It was a blast. It was a 13 footer, I think. I don't know if it was true, but my dad swore it was 10' of trailer and 3' of tongue.
