    I have a 54 Belair that I'm building. Running a 235 and stock 3 speed.
I'm going to put a jag front suspension on it and at some point change over to a t-5 trans from an S-10. What I'm researching is how to run disc/drum brakes and still keep a clutch.
Does anyone sell an under the floor disc/drum master cylinder manual or power? that will work with the stock brake pedal and clutch pedal.
I've seen hanging pedals but they all say it's a hydraulic clutch. Is it possible to convert a t-5 to be a hydraulic clutch?

    Thanks
    Slick

Most s-10 were hydro clutch. If I'm not mistaken

Got a similar issue but just want to convert to hydraulic clutch on my 54 Belair. Have the stock pedal in and a Tremec TKO600 but the (modified) mechanical link won't give a straight enough push on the fork. Can get a slave cylinder and bracket kit but would like to be able to use the stock pedal to work the master. All the kits out there seem to be for Tri-5 and are stupid money (I'm in the UK so would need to ship and get hit by tax etc). Would be good to know if there is a solution out there.

I understand your problem. I was in the UK when I built my hot rod. I used a Land Rover Discovery slave and master. I made a bracket similar to the ones Novak sell - pretty simple to fabricate- and an early clutch fork with a clevis on the end. Novak sell them too. Not to difficult to make a bracket for the master so the pedal operates it. Still working ok after 40 years!

Just checked my records - 40 years ago it was a Cortina master and slave, replaced them with the Landy parts a few years ago as I couldn't find Cortina ones over here!

Pm me if you want any further info.

What rear will you be running ? The S10 trans is for open driveline,....54 Chev still used the torque tube.

  7. Gut the master and leave it for the clutch. Hang a pedal on the firewall for the brake. Done.

    I made my own:

The backing plate is 1/4' steel, cut to fit the access panel. The centre support is 2x2 square tubing, the outlining supports and the dash brace are also 1/4".

Mounts where the access panel would normally be.

Made a bracket for the z-bar:

    Pedals themselves are 1/2x1"

  9. If you don't want to make one, a Chevy G-van unit allows you to make up your own rods to attach to the dash rail in place of the way most other factory pedal units come around and bolt to the steering column mount.

Thanks All. Gonna get are heads together on it. Itching to get out on the road in it!! Might be a get it going fix and then drop back on it over the crappy UK winter months for a better solution. Some great fixes above though. Got to give credit to Tim at Roadhouse who is doing the 'mackling' on my 54.

Hey Ddooce. Thanks for this tip on the Landy cylinders. Man they are cheap too, even the Lucas ones!! Looking at mounting the master cylinder behind the stock pedal under the floor. Tim will knock a bracket up for the slave cylinder and hopefully that'll be it good to go. Cheers for the heads up.

OK, so the slave cylinder bracket set up mounted on the bellhousing fouls on the body mount. Bollox. Will update if there is solution but may move to a hydraulic T/O bearing. Cue the crashing of the credit card. Again.
