Pontiac 239 pertronix HEI distributor conversion?

    Has anyone converted there Pontiac 239 distributor to HEI in there Pontiac Chieftain? I know Pertronix makes 6v HEI conversions. But I can't make out the numbers on the ID plate on the side of the distributor I know the ignition coil will have to be changed to higher output coil.

    I put one on my straight 8. Didnt change the coil and Worked fine.

    Really well I cant read the model number on my distributor my 51 Chieftain has the 239
    straight six. How can I tell what distributor I have?

    A '51 should use our kit number 1168LS which you can get in 6v positive or negative ground or 12 negative ground. There were multiple distributors used in 46-54 but the only one this doesn't fit is 1112314. Since you can't read the numbers on yours, as long as your point set is Straight arm, not curved, you should be fine with that kit.
