Searched the HAMB and didn't find the answers I was looking for. 2 questions: 1. Is anyone re-producing a sheet metal '34 Plymouth PE/PF deck lid? I did find a dated web site of Floyds Body Shop in Sedan, KS. (Their email is not working). 2. Looking for some good vendors for a grill insert: I've found http://www.alumicraft.com/ Know of any others? Thanks, AA6
Probably be easier to make that deck lid, before you'll find a repro or even a spare original. Or find a good tin guy who can do it for you. I'm sure it's not completely flat but I doubt it needs much compound curvature put into it.
What is the condition of your deck lid? Is it intact enough to use as a pattern? hardisonmetalshaping.com
My grill is a custom one-off. Well made I just don't like its' design. The bars are too big and too much room between bars. My current deck lid is fibergl***. It's in great condition. I'm working with a shop that routinely does metal forming. I just wanted to see what else is out there. Thanks for the answers. Grill and deck lid pics attached.
The Plymouth Dr did not produce the 34 deck lid. They did give me the contact of Floyd Riley at www.rileyreproductions.com The same Floyds Body Shop in Sedan, KS that I found on google. Email sent to the Rileys. More to follow on their reply. I WOULD TAKE A FEW MORE LEADS ON GRILL VENDORS!!!!!! AA6
Jack Haglund in Enumclaw WA. collects and sells 33-34 dodge Plymouth Chrysler parts, if he don't have it he generally knows where to find it. PM me if you want his info.
Mr. Haglund didn't have one, but he will look for me. He has some parts inbound that might have a deck lid. Possibilities!
I have a 33 Plymouth I've been working on and getting parts for it for years.Only repro lids made are fibergl***.I have a rumble seat and bought a gl*** lid but fortunately my friend who is helping me somehow managed to save my original. They have a compound two direction curve to them although they appear somewhat flat they are far from it.Maybe salvage some metal off an old roof or something with that type of curve and weld on the outer lid made from some templates. Not an easy piece to find as most are missing when you find a car. They do make some nice repro grilles but be prepared to spend upwards of 800 bucks.I found a reasonable original on ebay and fixed it. Good luck to ya
I have a PD grille insert that is a re-pop but really nice. PM me if interested. It is nicer quality than the alumicraft ones and fits the PD shell really nice.
There used to be a company that stamped them out....I was going to use one in my 34 Plymouth when I had it, but never finished that project. Herr company or something like that
