Hei gear for factory roller cam vortec engine

    Do the 350 factory roller cam 1996 up vortec engines require a bronze/br*** gear on the Hei shaft or is the common hardened steel gear ok to use . This may have been covered before but I cant find it . Thanks guys .

    Melonized iron gear for the steel roller cam found in the vortecs.

    yep mellonized gear and after putting it on the shaft put some ***y lube on it or a little white grease to give it a chance while the oil gets to it.
