This is my last time starting Sunday models for a few weeks now because I know that some of you guys might like to start it. Here is what I have been working on this week. I finished this 32 Ford roadster, 29 Ford roadster, Porsche kustom and also started new projects out of my spare parts. I also attempted a chop on a 32 Ford tudor kit and I didn't fail and check out my album of model cars because I update it every Friday and feel free to post comments on the photos.
I just finished the Zeppelin Diner . It was a real building in West Los Angles on Florence avenue near the Harbor freeway . My next project is to finish out the adjoining Gilmore gasoline station that would have been on Denver at Florence and next to the former Zeppelin diner scrubba
today I bought about 4 ,40 ford models. all the headlight are gone except 2.anybody got any beater 40 ford models laying around that might have headlight you want to get rid of?any headlights laying around?lmk clearer head now, any ideas on headlights for the forty's. They are the early issue sedans. Bonneville style, drag race style.
Still chuggin along on the 1:8 deuce. Squared the frame then stuck it to some poster paper & laid out a centerline. Mock-up to see how everything's fitting together. With the 4 spd, the drive line is now open & I think I'm going 4 bar at the back vs using the original radius rods. Motor mounts & frame tabs, which I neglected to install before spraying my base coat of black, are drilled & aligned with pins...later to be replaced with mineature bolts. Bending jig for the tubular K members.
Hey nerd, you have plenty of tuff stuff in your stash, always in awe of your Barris dio, reckon its about the best I've seen Cheers Rod
Dang theres so much great stuff already. The dio's are great, the cars are great. Good job guys. This is what Im working on. All 1/87 scale. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki And heres some old ones Iv done. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
Not fkn surprised , old mate Well done. I did follow your build here a while ago, thought I did some good dio's, (also here on the HAMB), but I am still in kindergarden by comparison Rod
Anyone needing info on the Zeppelin , it's 1-24th scale , ie 1/2inch equals a foot . I spent three years researching what I could of the building . AAA California was the greatest help. It's listed in the UCLA archives , but they really won't do much for out of town visitors . The actual construction uh I spent pretty near a year . As to cost , uh around a thousand dollars U S .............. scrubba
Great stuff guys! If I ever finish one I will put up a pic. That is if I learn that too. I have a lot of starts models to finish up. No where near the level of the posts here tho. 60 yrs old and learning is a good thing . Keep up the beauty work guys , I tune in every Sunday to check you out and look forward to it...Kev.
Hey Scrubba, how about a close up of that little one man modified in the corner of the parking lot. It looks cool, love to have a closer look.
B.A. King: today I bought about 4 ,40 ford models. all the headlight are gone except 2.anybody got any beater 40 ford models laying around that might have headlight you want to get rid of? I've got a pair of the chrome bezels and clear lenses from the AMT '39-'40 sedan kit that you can have. I used the '39 ones so have no need for the '40s. Send me a PM with your address. Tomorrow is the deadline for the H.A.M.B. Plastic Modeler Builders informal contest for '39 and '40 Ford cars and light trucks. You can see the builders' progress at http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/group.php?groupid=105 In a couple of weeks the entries will be posted on the regular H.A.M.B. board for all to vote on.
Scrubba, that Zep Diner is fantastic! Thanks for building it and posting the construction and finished pics.
