I seen on some forums that SAR ( Steve's auto restoration) realsteel.com is making an all new 33-34 3 window coupe body... Anyone know anything about this??
Probably experienced the same think Drake went through with the 40 coupe,,cost got prohibitive and sales were sagging as a result of the economy. Steve Auto Restoration owned Real Steel which manufactured the 34 body. HRP
I'm thinking FoMoCo is still stamping out some 40 Ford Coupe bodies, as well as 65 Mustangs. Anybody know if they are still doing that in the down economy right now?
It just blows my mind that for as much work as Guys dump into a heap of a 33-34 that no one makes new bodies or even sections like they do the 32.. I've been hunting for a 33-34 coupe body and there just about impossible to get your hands on for a reasonable price for the condition. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Just ordered a new 33-34 louvered decklid from Steves.....Chris said I'd get it in 4-6 weeks but if I'd called a few weeks ago, he'd have told me they couldn't get them anymore.. I have no idea if that means work is starting up again on full bodies or not...I didn't ask.
The original message said "postponed indefinitely" so it is possible it could get restarted. http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/s...ght=steve+auto
The "40 bodies are built in Florida by Real Deal Steel. the mustang is a RDS franchise and is built in Ohio (at least started out that way). Tim
