..House tomorrow night. Anyone have any messages for "the Troz"? Kr***? Bernie? Once again I've told him about the HAMB, and he sounds interested, so he just may pop in to say "Hi". He was thrilled about the auction and was happy to know that it goes to a great cause. George is awsome. I'm lucky to live so close to him. I guess he's not so lucky to live so close to me... Spike
Tell him that I think Kr*** and Bernie is the raddest car comic ever and that It is my favorite part of the "new" car craft.
George is cool as hell. Met him a couple years ago at Posies open house. I freaked like he was a rock star or something. He laughed and signed my hat. Had no idea he was almost local being a PA guy and all. Have fun!!!
Ohh man, this is going to be a hot post....... I'd start the *** kissing off here, but I'd just be repeating myself from another post that was on here about a month and a half ago. I will say that I have been going to http://www.georgetrosley.com/ almost every day this month on my lunch break and practicing my own drawings (been going to Jeff Norwells site too). All of these electrical diagrams that I have been doing have made my need to create grow. I wish I were Spike (for more than one reason - that's two compliments in one guys).
Welcome Troz!!! Kr*** & Bernie was/is the best damn cartoon ever!! I have many 80's CARtoons and used to send some of my art in to the mag. Wish it survived. Now I've been getting Car Craft just to get K&B. Trosley on the HAMB???? ****ing awesome!!!! Josh
Wow! Another legend joins the HAMB ranks! I sure do miss CARtoons. Buying them from EBay is nowhere near as cool as when I used to pick them up at our small town IGA grocery store magazine rack.
BUSTED! I started telling George how many "greats" are on here, and now we can add one more to the list! I guess you guys can tell the man himself whatever it is you were gonna write here. see George? I told you this place was KOOL! However, it does get addicting, so don't let it interupt your work! I would hate to see you get fired because of me! Spike
yeah i remember thinking it would be cool to see a combination of those hustler cartoons with some hot rods and customs. lol
Troz!!!! Just wanted you to know that you inspired me to do the work I do today. Your one of my biggest heroes!!!!!! (sheesh! I sound like a little school girl!) A big WELCOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
.........I was at a local car cruise about 5 years ago and saw a framed cartoon of the guy's '54 Chevy leaning against the front bumper. I knew in an instant that it was done by "Trosley." I flipped out. The guy gave me the information and just imagine how I felt a couple weeks later when I pulled the cartoon of MY car out of the envelope!!!! With all of the hot rod history behind this man and the part he plays in so many of our backgrounds, it's hard to believe that he is such a "real" person. I'd just like to add, welcome and thanks for the memories..........( ....and for the love of God, PLEASE don't hang around with "Spike." Like it or not, people DO judge you by the company you keep!)
A "Big HAMB Welcome"Troz! I've had many, many hours of pleasure reading and enjoying your work and art. This is the place to be. Joel
Welcome Troz. I still have an old Cartoons. Maybe a couple. I also have some of the pencil drawings I did from them. Thanks Man! Tim
LOL, how unreal is that? Trosley is one of my heroes! Always has been since I first cracked open CARtoons and saw that chain-driven V-dub fueler for the first time... Welcome to the HAMB George. I can't tell you how glad I am to see you here, maybe you can show us some of your traditional hot rod sketches. EDIT - actually, I FOUND some! lol
Hey GOTGAS- That art you just put up? Believe it or not, was inspired by a shot that I did for Speed and Chrome Illustrated. George told me that. To which my reply was "I've never inspired anyone to do anything positive..except maybe get a vasectomy!" The car is owned by a friend of mine and George's named Dave Leather, and before that was owned by Don Whisler, who owns the first car I ever photographed for a magazine.. follow that? Don's car was a T-Bucket featured in CKD #2. But anyway, George liked the shot because I used a ladder to do it, an idea I stole from Gray Baskerville, who is far more talented than I'll ever be. Even in the after-life. Just thought you may get a kick out of that little bit of information...And that George gave me a copy which I have displayed next to the Speed and Chrome article. Yup, I'm going to die broke and happy and my wife is going to have a Hell of a yard sale... Spike
I wish I still had some of the old iron-ons for your T-shirt from those old CarToons mags. I remember wearing one with a 40 Ford Coupe on it until the shirt was threads. Welcome George!
please tell him tred said hi, and bring me back somethin' from larry flint's christmas gig. he'll know what it's all about... tred.
Well I'll be damned. Hey Troz! Thanks to you, whenever I haer a sweet soundin' ride, I see musical notes comin' outta the tailpipes in my head. I'm totally serious. The way things get embedded into the mind when we're really young...I was always readin' my big bro's CARToons when I was a wee lil' ****. Then when I started gettin' an allowance I spent it on model cars and CARToon. Smokes and gas eventually took their place, but that ****'ll be etched in my mind forever. Thanks, Olson
I want a copy of the cartoon of the Street Trucks staff by the pool. please. cause you captured ***o perfectly.
Yea, that IS funny how stuff sticks in yer head from your youth. I used to read my CarTOONs on the bus ride to school with my best friend from grade school. When we'd get off the bus at his house we'd go into his little garage. It was a total mess with the exception of one spot on the floor where his dirtbike sat. Every time I see a dirty garage it takes me right back to the Trosley print of the clean spot on the garage floor in the perfect shape of an old coupe..... Funny little extra tid-bit as well....same kid, same bus - we used to pretend we were riding our dirtbikes in the ditches along the road and jumping every driveway.....still do that one when I am a p***enger in a car. brings a smile every time.
Just got home! Wow. Thats all I can say. I had to bring my son along, just because some day he may think its cool. So, were standing there looking at all the pictures George has with these famous people, and George was asking my son "You know this guy..?" and my son would have no idea who Gabe Kaplan was..but then he came to one picture and says "Hey! That's Ron Jeromy!" I cracked up. So anyway, George signed the auction print and put the personal message that Wingman wanted. I'm mailing it out soon. By the way, George does a killer Larry Flint impersonation! Spike
You lucky so & so. I would give my left nut to have been able to do that! I bought a Fast Food print from him a few years ago, and he posted it to me down here in Oz. It is on the wall in my home office, but looks lop sided as I need to buy another one from him to put on the other side of the window. Anyway, that is the excuse I am using with the "home treasurer" when I told her I wanted to buy another to hang in my office. Michael
