Flake it, drop it, and change the wheel and tires!!!

  4. They tend to be rust prone at the sliding roof but absolutely hip. Metal flake the roof is a good idea, wheels, yes, and don't touch the bizarre tail lights. Ah, ah , ah!

cadilac tail lights would look right on that car. no, not the '59 bullets; the tall skinny ones from 15-20 years ago. sunk in right beside the tailgate.

Sure looks like it fits right in with the mission of this board. I seem to remember something about TRADITIONAL RODS AND CUSTOMS. I'll dig out some of my old 40's/50's Hot Rod mags for reference and I'll get back to you. I'm sure they will be well represented in that publication. :(

  8. I'm responding to my own post. I love me!

On second thought you have Carte Blanche on the tail lights. Anything goes really. How about 61 Plymouth rockets? (half serious but wtf?) The thing is the car was designed with a straightedge and loked very clean when new. You can acknowledge that as you go or find yourself fighting the knife edge styling. What you have are nice panels to show off some cool paint work. You don't have to do much stylewise IMHO. So those ugly but inconspicuous lights won't get in the way of the paint, don't you see?
And yeah, as someone pointed out, Mr. Barnett has a 65 Ford Way Gone also all angles and edge. He's got some good ideas for it.

If you replate the aluminum grill and headlight bezels you might like them more. It's similar to anodizing but uses chrome. Could make a tremendous difference without having to design something to fit in place.

It's a worthy project. If you have the resources go for it. We are all envious.

I'd go one step further and make it a faux woodie with trim kinda like the Blake pic. Use the veneer of your choice (I'd use mahogany with rock maple trim) and you're golden. A bandsaw and router can cut out the trim pieces and the veneer can be cut with an x-acto knife.

you got a problem with 60's style cars? Ryan makes the rules, you want to be a "strict traditionalist" start your own fuckin board, Ryan lets us poor folks who can't/won't affort deuces, but prefer slightly later build styles to hang here too. ass.

Yeah...conservative chop, kool kolor, old time rims. You can't go wrong. What it will need is a removable push bar for drag strip duty. Perfect car for pushin a nostalgia digger.

Naw...to "traditional". Oh wait, that's what this place is about:D .

a neighbor of mine had one of those things. he had a HOT 327 with a 6x2 setup and a super t10. damn that thing was fast as hell. he had it on some old cragar five spokes with piecrust cheater slicks on the back. it had really nice semigloss black on it too. damn that was a sweet ride.

  27. No chop. NO CHOP! Leave the tailights and headlights. Maybe some chrome drawer pulls with a mesh background for the grill? The tall roof is quirky, but cool! I think Blake nailed the look...both times. That little wagon is cooool! Don't let my wife see it or she'll be wanting to trade ours in for one of those.

Fab32...why you wanna ruin the fun? "Traditional" does not stop at 1959...and just because a particular car wasn't cool back in the day, doesn't mean it can't be cool now...it's called VISION...get some. sheesh.
