55-56 Chevy Steel Wheels

    What is the difference between 55 and 56 Chevy factory steel wheels?
    I have a 56 210 model with steelies. They are welded wheels 15''.

    I've been told that 55 steelies have rivots. Thanks for your input....JT

    I reversed a set of '55 rims back in the 60's by cutting out the rivets and welding them back together. I think they were the original wheels. I never had a '56 but I believe there was a wider tire option in that year so it's possible it used a different wheel to fit the bigger tire.

    Rivets (55) versus welding (56). Corvette wheels were also welded, so '56 p***enger car rims seem to go for more than the '55 ones do.
