saginaw trans shifting issue

    car shifted fine. cant go from 2 to 3. 1st to 2 fine. 3rd to 4th fine. hurst comp. plus old school shifter. any ideas?

    Wear on shift linkage; either the plastic bushings or the rods where the bushings ride.

    If you have this wear, the neutral gate will not be lined up right anymore.

    There is an aligning hole at the lower arms hanging from the shifter body. A 1/4" drill needs to be able to p*** through those arms, while the trans is in neutral

    thanks for the info, should the linkage attached to the trans have plastic bushings? i dont , just wasnt sure
