History Lost '36 3wd Custom - Anyone Ever Seen It?

Discussion in 'Traditional Customs' started by Harrison, Jul 15, 2013.

  1. We may be on to something here.....Takes a lot of what's wrong with the nose away. Trimming off the fins fixed the back, but that nose........

I hear ya about that nose, Mike. It's an odd combination for sure. I resisted the urge to re-shape the hood to resemble a 50's Ferrari or Allard, even though I think it would "flow" much better.

You can definitely tell where the name ruptured duck came from though. Ol' rooster still talks about that car being the one that got away for him.

Did a quick re-work of the front, along with a few other things......

too much like a sports car IMO Ruben. To me it starts to lose the essense of the original builder's vision. i like the original clamshell hood , headlight treatment and accent line curving down across n back up on other side below H/lights. Can you please try an AC Cobra shape opening at all?

Maybe with a couple of floating park-lamps in the opening at either end and two F-1 pickup type floating grille bars? This sure is interesting!!

I also wonder if possibly a scoop under the opening would work? Something that mirrors the shape of the hood?

Hopefully someone found this and turned it into a ratshitrod, imho, it would be an improvement.
The photoshop changes just show you should just start again and do it right.
I like the Matador and I think comparing it here is doing it a huge injustice. Sorry, this, its not for me.

    wow!
I think Ruben pretty much nailed it, the only thing is I would go for a more mid-late 50's show car look and go with a heavily modified/sectioned 40 ford front end.

    Now, that's better!

  10. I've been away for a few days.

Thanks for all the input guys! That "Memphis Trucker" may have actually lived north of Memphis where I saw it on the side of HWY 51. There were a few big trucks in the yard and I do believe it was the late '90's when I saw it. That's my late model Impala's right quarter panel in the background of one of the photos I posted.

Injun, go check on it! I can't remember exactly where it was but I'd know it if I saw the place. Wish I could get over that way to beat the bushes a little myself.

I'd love to buy it and build it. Think I'd have to hire Ruben Duran for my concept art. ;)

    Thanks, Jim

  11. Some customs are better off left alone.
This one could be improved upon.
Not trying to ruffle any feathers here.

I see... I deleted my post...
I just don't get on here enough anymore to keep track, and my friend who send the info probably also did not see it... Glad the info was found though.

Just wondering if you tracked it down. It was definately a car you would remember seeing.
