I apologise if this is in the wrong forum... I have a set of old headlight and have no idea what they are from or what year and if there worth anything...any help would greatly be appreciated..
Take them apart and see what is written on the outer edge of the gl*** in real small letters. Probably a patent number , date and name. I think the gl*** pattern is Corning Conaphore. Probably around 1910 for multi makes. Even then there were aftermarket products.
Here's the thing - back in those days, headlights weren't standard on everything. And most cars were '***embled' cars, meaning that they bought in components and made a car. So, what you have may be aftermarket. Even if you could determine an OEM, it may be that they didn't put those on every car, as some manufacturers would buy from the lowest bidder every time they ran out of stock. Or the headlight manufacturer could have gone out of business. Things were (very) different back in the early part of last century. Cosmo
Not much out there in the either, but I found some stuff - http://books.google.com/books?id=9z...v=onepage&q=Warner Patterson Headlamp&f=false There's a s***bag selling a WP spotlight on eGag with a cracked base. He doesn't mention it in the ad, but you can see it in the pic if you look close.
They are definitely from the late teens or early twenties. By the mid twenties most cars that had drum headlights had switched to bucket headlights. I have seen them before, but not sure of the car. I think they might be Es***.
thank you for the information from everyone....I guess ill see what I can get for them as I don't need them....
They could be Lincoln, Packard, Pierce Arrow (not all had fender lights), even early Duesenberg. As was said, not all companies made every part.
bugsydog, nice lights, could you post a close up of the mounting stem, it looks rather unique. "That auction site" that we can't mention here would get you the most money. Bob
Maybe an H.C.S. item, if all else fails call Don Axlerod in Lynn, M*** all he buys and sells are headlights, good knowledgeable guy. Bob
thanks for the info, im into the headlights kinda deep and was wondering what they were worth to try to recoup my $$
I located a picture and these headlight brackets are the same as a 1922 Stanley Steamer Model 740 F Brougham...is it possible
