Yes, it is band adjuster. If you have no luck other parts are now lying in the pan :(

Hi! I am wondering how you have gone getting parts for this - I have a 1959 Lincoln here in Australia that I have recently started work on and was after any recommendations for Lincoln parts suppliers for this era Continental? Did you sort out your trans issue? I had a Fordamatic that was spewing oil out the dipstick tube once it reached a certain temperature and it was caused by water getting into the trans - aparently when water mixes with trans fluid it expands at operating temperatures which damaged some seals inside it which results in the fluid being forced up the tube. Whether that is your issue or not I dont know but thought the info may help.

My girlfriends Father has a 60 convertible he bought in 1963. The car was their daily driver till the late 80's. Totally stock except for a repaint he keeps it looking like it
did when he got it. I got to drive it a couple of years ago to a local car show, he drove
his 46 continental convertible (v-12). Biggest car every made as a regular production
auto. Some guy parked next to the 60 in a 60 Caddy, he thought his car had shrunk!
As previously mentioned this is a unibody car- do it right to fix that fender!
