Willing to travel anywhere in the state?

    Chicago?

    Springfield?

    Effingham?

(I'm sure there is an Effing Louver press there) :)

I am sure that he would be the only Gary Holsclaw in Elliott, or I can take you over there.

    Where are you located?

    OH NO YO DIDN'T!!!!!

  22. This don't mean anything, but I remember going with my buddy to get a bunch of Louvers punched in his new '82 Chevy shortbeds' hood.

We went to a new guys shop and they did beautiful work. The guy the did the work was Gary Heidt of Heidts Hot Rod Shop. A memorable day for me.

    Ok, I'll go now.

What style of louver are you looking for? Traditional or a squared off style. I would probably have Hopp do one for me. 20 years ago I had a guy in southern WI do my hood. I had the modern flat style. ( IT WAS ON A 77 CAPRICE) This guy was from California and knew all the old tricks from the day.

don't mean to hijack this post, but while on the subject of punching louvers in a 46 ford hood, the hood for my 46 didn't get finished. the arm on the press broke way back in 1982. it's about 40 holes shy of being done.
fast forward to this past summer, i hear that the guy has finally fixed the old press. is it wise to use the same die he started with, or wouldn't it matter? i didn't measure them, they look to be the standard 3 inch hole. if i had someone else finish, would a different die make a difference in appearence?
i'm not talking different size or shape, but maybe a new die compared to a used or worn one.
the guy remembers the hood, so he wants to finish it for free. what's the going price per hole? i want to give him something.

Last I heard Hopperstad charged $2-3 per hole, but that was 4 years ago
