1953 Ford owners, I've had this bezel for a long time and I don't own any Fords. I'd like to get it into the hands of someone who could use it, but I want to make sure that's what it is. There are no markings of any kind I can find on it, and the pictures I've been able to find online aren't closeups. So, at this point, I can't be sure. Does it look familiar to anyone? Thanks!
Is it cast or stamped steel? I think they came both ways.... If its steel that'd be best for frenched lites.
Stamped steel means it's a '52-'53 and it having a peak means it is Ford and not Mercury. I may be wrong but that is what I've always gone by.
From what I can tell, all '54 bezels are die cast, and the 52-53 ones are stamped steel, so that narrows it down to 52-53. On my '52 parts car, the inner ring is chromed, on my '53 it's stainless, so I'm pretty sure this is from a '53 specifically, but I'm sure a '52 owner would use it as well. Good solid ones can be hard to find, they like to rust out.
During 51-52 Ford/Mercury/Lincoln had a mix of stainless/chrome parts, due to lack of chrome during the Korea crisis. 52 Ford - Some used stainless, and some had crome inner rings. Same goes with '51 Merc grilles, '51 Lincoln grilles and many other parts.
