This guy goes under many different names and sells on Ebay, thru regional swap mags, car shows, flea markets, etc.
Deals in tools, car parts (especially muscle era Mopar), racist toys, religious stuff, etc.
Doesnt deliver, sends wrong stuff (including bricks so the weight looks OK and then does a UPS claim). You name it he does it.

    Names Im aware of:
    David Steele
    David E. Steele
    Tool World
    Tool World USA
    Great Tools
    Boston Tools
    Tool Authority
    OPJ
    Baystatebooks and derivatives thru Baystatebooks2005
    Steele ***ociates

Mostly uses 7 Clark Av, Dracut, MA as a business address.

Im acting as a conduit to the Middle*** County (M***) DA's office who want to put him away for a long time. Ebay and PayPal also want a big piece of his ***.

    Any info will be appreciated.

Ebay and Paypal don't do ****. Never have, never will. Been burned by scammers before, Ebay doesn't care as long as they get their comision.

I have printed your Original Posting and will p*** the word to my fellow members of CSRA. Our Fall swap meet is coming up on Nov. 6th at Lake Compounds, in Bristol CT. He may try and sell there. Do you have a picture of this "S*** Bag"?

Thats a bunch of bull ****.
Ebay has been on a cleanup campaign of late and this guy has been removed from every ID they can find any sort of match. PayPal is working with the feds and the PO fraud bureau.

In any case I dont want to listen to whining about Ebay and PayPal. Just info on this Steele ****head.

No picture. He is in his early 30's, about 5'9" @ 160#, black hair. Usually has a miniature Boston terrier with him. Drives a 16' Ford box truck and various vans with Tool World USA magnetic signs on the doors. Sometimes shows up at car shows in a 74 Dart or a 2003 Orange Cobra.

At shows his speciality is selling large items with missing parts such as an engine hoist missing the ram, engine stands with no wheels, etc. Also HVLP spray guns with no guts, air tools that dont work. Dont ever try and return anything that is defective. He screams like a fairy and tries to get you thrown out. Ive watched him in action at a few places while gathering info.

I think he was selling in Indy at the Good Guys event. There was a guy there with several questionable bottle openers and racist statues. Seemed a little weird when talking to him...

No info, but thanks for the heads-up on this guy. Hope you get this guy.

  18. Boston terrier?
    Engine hoists with missing parts?
I saw this guy at stafford Springs a few months ago I think.....
I've got tomorrow (saturday) off & will probably be out wandering.....
Want me to find out if that's a legit address?

Yeah, he does Stafford, Amherst, Early Ford V8, Dedham, Worcester, and several of the other popular ones in all of the NE states except Maine.

If anybody runs into him innnocently ask if he has an Ebay site that you can buy from.
He also bragged about ****ing a guy in Ayer with a hemi powered 34 sedan painted like a hippy Microbus. Im sure we all know who that is....

  20. I better go check the eight car dollies I bought at Stafford today to see if they all have wheels!

  21. dumb question. Is this ***** purposely taking parts out of the tools, or does he have a source for damaged goods somewhere? It seems hard to believe he could sell tons of things with missing parts without someone actually kicking his ***. A lot of these weekend shows it would be rediculously easy to corner someone after hours and make them give you your money back, I think.

But one way to shut him down might be to track down who he is getting this stuff from, and see if you can keep them from selling the guy any more.

It's kind of stupid, for the same effort the guy could do an honest business. so you know something is wrong there -

Not it's not: I've been burned on ebay a few times & they only acted on ONE time - that was to ban the user. BFD!!! - all he has to do is open a new account under another name & I DIDN'T EVEN GET TO LEAVE HIM NEGATIVE FEEDBACK!!! The others - even some that just DID NOT BOTHER TO SEND THE ITEM (& lied about it over & over) - egay did NOTHING about!!! Don't want to listen to it? Too bad: you're the one that called the TRUTH ********!!!

What should you do if you see this crook in action ? What authorities would you notify? Are there any type of arrest warrants in effect on him?

FWIW, I did some investigating (since I rec'd the e-mail pointing to this post) and NOBODY's ever heard of this guy nor do they even recognize the descriptions mentioned .......and a couple of guys I spoke with have season spots at Amherst and regularly attend all the other meets metioned.

One guy said, (this isn't verbatum but it's pretty damn close) What's this guy's problem? He's buying USED STUFF. Doesn't he know he's spposed to LOOK AT IT FIRST? He musta been hooked by the low prices. I see these guys all the time. They want everything for nothing and keep looking until they find something cheap and snap it up thinking they've made a killing.

The only guy that comes close to the previously posted description (sells tools out of a box truck) is a reputable guy from Lowell that's been in business for well over 20 years. Hell, I think that's how long ago it was that I bought my jack stands from him at Amherst. Oh yea, they still work just fine. So does the die grinder I bought off him around the same time.

BTW, plug Tool World USA into Google AdvancedSearch. Click on the link to e-bay. Seems this guy's got an outstanding reputation according to the feedback.

I stand by what I said. In fact, I had a guy this past week 0 feedback, win an auction, won countless auctions and the negatives are finally hitting the 3 mark (mine) and ebay wont do ****. He uses a hotmail account and that means ebay has his credit card info (to use yahell or hotmail you need a card). They could EASILLY lock down his name with todays online resources, but they wont. He will be back next week with another email and name screwing up auctions.

I also researched the names you gave and only found one on Ebay and they are still 100%. Seems something isn't exactly kosher here.

What is wrong with selling a engine hoist with no ram, or an engine stand with no wheels?
    These arent hidden problems
that is like complaining about a guy selling a car with no doors

I personally have several castors and a couple spare hydraulic rams on my side yard.

i think what they are saying is that he is selling them a box of a particular item w/o all the components in them, but portrayed as complete.

That is part of 286's first post in the thread..

Doesn't seem like the issues are being covered as the thread progresses.
Want to open a package to find some bricks instead of ALL the parts you need to finish the...hoist or whatever... you just ordered?

Perhaps what 286 means by missing casters or rams is that the DISPLAY has all the parts but when you get the box off the truck or from UPS and open it in your garage it has stuff missing.

Do you really think the seller has ALL his wares fully ***embled for viewing on the field?
I wouldn't even want him to. A packaged engine hoist would be MUCH easier to deal with than a fully ***embled one.
You get it home...NO RAM in the box!!! WTF!?!?

I'm willing to take 286 at his word, that this guy is a flake.

I DO agree it's hard to convict someone just on the suggestion of wrong doing, but this post is to inform us and to FIND the guy...not swing him from the ramless hoist by the short and curlies!!!
The law takes over from there, NOT the hangman!!!

I'm all for defending the innocent...but let the DA determine if he IS innocent first. In the mean time, the swapmeeters on the board can watch their backs as they potentially do business with him. (or others as they should.)

Thanks for the heads up 286Merc.
