I was born in 1951, I came home in a '37 chevy 2dr, my Dad traded it in on a 1954 Lincoln Capri. It was black and jello, (that was how I pronounced yellow). We, my Dad and I, rebuilt the engine in around 1960. That was my first real experience with any kind of performance. I'd like to find another to give it to my Dad. side note, he hates that I'm into cars. But, I think it's his fault!!! LOL.

Back in 1965,I was working at a local Texaco staion.A guy brought one of these in because it was running rough. We fixed it,but he never came back to pick it up.After sitting for six months ,the boss got the cops involved and after three more months it belonged to our boss at the garage. He gave it to us kids.
Guess what we did with it???? We stripped it and took it to the local Demo Derby !!!!
What a bunch of A-holes ! But we were kids and it was just a car to trash.
It was a black two door hardtop with yellow interior in pretty nice shape.

I know where a real decent 54 tudor hardtop is for sale but I haven't pursued it because I don't know much about them. Are any parts such as brakes or other mechanicals the same as Ford? Are mechanical parts hard to find?

They are fantastic cars. They never sold a ton and there's not oodles and oodles left so some parts can be a bear to find.

Brake Drums are hard to find and expensive when you do. Mark II enterprises should have them, I wouldnt be surprised if good used ones are, like my '60 Lincoln, $2-300. each.

Ball Joints? Same deal for the 52-57 cars. Kanter can rebuild them, all 4 for the front? $750 or so last I looked.

Usual trim and chrome and body stuff is a pain to find and pricey when you do. I doubt anyone is reproducing curved gl*** for them, breaking a windshield may make you cry.

Some mechanical stuff is cheap, the pre-56s still use the under $10 each wheel cylinders.

Engine and trans parts exist, not cheap.

When in good condition they will surprise you with how well they hold the road. They aren't going to corner like a modern Jaguar, but for a mid 50s American car they're very very good. As others have said, great brakes too.
