Original Prewar Willys - my everyday drivers

  1. I drove a stock, hand painted, mechanical braked '33 model "77" regularly in the eighties.
    Panic stops were fun, and people used to spin out when I handcrank started it- I was a cheapskate (still am) and had 1 good battery for 3 cars.

    Ya they sure are tight ! As cool as they are their size is why I am sticking with my 37 To 40 stuff .
    No worries on the quick read I'm guilty of that every day !
    Ya know , my 36 delivery is stock and although its slightly apart its basically complete . The original single seat in the delivery is the only way to have any space for your self ! With a bench in there your shoulders touch your p***engers ! Not always a bad thing depending on the p***enger :)

    My future everyday driver was just purchased from Bellingham WA and brought up here a couple weeks ago . It will need everything but its solid ( minus dog legs ) . It's got a Mustang IFS and a 9" . I have some old school slots to run on it and I will dress it in all my 40 leftovers and even mount the 40 hood to the 37 hinge ! It will have the rear drs welded up and Coupe wheel lips welded on . Might even set it up for Coupe drs ? It's going to run a typical smogger RV 350 / TH400 and a couple old school bucket seats . Good enough till the Coupe is done !

    The windshield is a fixed unit, screwed in frame,no glove box.A 36 for sure.Some how ***led as a 33, Not much good as a daily driver, slow take off and you better start thinking how you are going to stop ahead.

    I would like to breathe some new life into this old thread if that is possible. One more thing that I like to see are early speed parts on the stock Willys engine.

    Bought my '36 in '64, built it (very poorly!) and drove it like this 2 years while getting my degree @ Fresno State. Survived that and tore it down for a good build in '73, finally got it rebuilt correctly in '95, has been my daily driver off and on since then.
