Well I did spell dessal correctly. I think the Shell Rotella Triple Protection is the way to go for me as the oil is readily available and has lots of stuff in it. I may mix it 50 50 with 10 30 oil for a first try.

Do you put diesel fuel in your cars too? Brad Penn oil has the ZPPD you need and it's made for cars. Save the diesel oil for your bus...

  5. Hmm. Here I thought Brad Penn oil was hard to find. Now I need to figure out how to coax a couple quarts out of a sperm whale..

I've been chasing oils with sufficient zddp since the EPA began pressuring oil manufacturers to phase it out of most motor oils.

Have had good luck with Shell Rotella T, but it has less zddp now, so I have been using Valvoline for 4-stroke motorcycles in all our cars (both new and old) the past couple years. Costs the same as oil for passenger cars and still has a good zddp additive package.

Will look into the Chevron Delo 400 so many here have recommended. The Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck sounds interesting, but so far I have avoided synthetics. They are only cost effective if you leave them in your engine for extended periods and I would rather change oil at more frequent intervals to get dirt, acids and other contaminants out of the crankcase

    Happy Motoring,

    Harry

This is a great site. I have used it before and they have a wealth of good info on oil. The DELO 15w40 info is right there as well as all the other HDEOs.

I've been using Rotella T 15-40 in my T-bucket's engine ('57 Chevy 235) for years. I like it.

How far is Yakima from you? And IF you needed to order it, you mean you NEVER know in advance that you'll need oil?
