American Graffiti will be playing in select Cinemark Theaters as part of the Cl***ics Series. It will be showing 7/28 and 7/31. For a list of participating theaters look here: http://www.cinemark.com/cinemark-cl***ic-series
Thanks. Not that its any big deal but it occurs to me that I have never seen AG on the big screen. My wife and I would go if there was participating theater in our area.
I went to the theater 3 times to see it back when it came out originally and i intend to see it again at cinemark this month.
That was the only movie that my dad and me alone when to see together. 1973-ish or so if my memory serves me right. I fell in love that day.....................with a piss yellow puke green deuce coupe. He died young. ****s.
Cool! The movie that changed me from a muscle car guy to a hot rod guy. It's like, how do you NOT go see it on the BIG screen again? Thanks for the heads up. On a side note, "Munsters, Go Home" just came on the tube. Not as cool as AG, but it's cool watching them thrash the Dragula.
Took the kids to see De****able Me this afternoon and saw this in the previews. Already told my wife we have a date for next Sunday. She's sooooo excited. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
One of the funest movies I ever went to. Movies were still in big theaters every hot rodder in Pasadena went opening night. Gunk Brush even rode a mine bike through the movie.
BTT- Going to see it tomorrow. It will be my first time to see it on something besides a TV. Can't wait!
Buzzing thru netflix the other day they just got in 2 seasons of the Munsters, and if you go down the inventory they have the "Hot rod Herman" epiosod full length and no commercials.
It was so great to get to see it on the big screen for the first time in my life. I might have to take off work Wed afternoon so I can see it again. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
Saw it on the big screen, my friends mom drove us there in her '71 Chevelle. We were in 9th grade during spring break.
I saw it six times at the movie theater when it came out 40 years ago. I couldn't go today because I had to go to a meeting. So what does drdave do? He sends me screen shots during the movie to torture me while I was stuck in my meeting! "Geez, what a waste of machinery!"
cool....and our local showing is at a movie house on Forrest Lane - it was in one of the mag's back in the day.... Wonder if we could get the Dallas boys together - sure would be neat to have some hot rides there....
Thanks for the heads up. One of my favorite movies and I am too young to have gotten the chance to see it in the theater new.
First saw AG in a drive-in theatre in San Jose, CA in 1974, and again about ten years ago at the Foothill Azusa drive-in (we recorded a two-hour soundtrack recreating a KFWB top 40 countdown and played it before the show; "Green Onions" was the only song from the movie that was actually in the top 40 on Labor Day weekend 1962 - "Sherry" was #1). The best way to see American Graffiti is at a drive-in; don't miss it if you get the chance!
When it first came out, my friends and I used to walk to the local movie theater every night to see it. We were 15 or 16, had to travel about 5 miles to see in it in one place, then the next week, it was aobut 6 miles to see it in another town! Saw it as a second feature in the drive in after we got our licences. I hope they continue to bring it back once in a while, to real movies!
I'm going to be in St Joseph, MO, this week...may see about sliding back down to KC for Wednesday night's show.
Saw it yesterday for the first time on the big screen. I have watched the movie a million times, but the big screen brings out so much detail lost on regular TV's. Coolest part is when Milner and Falfa meet for the first time on the street. When they take off and pan to a side shot you can see the 32's front fenders shaking. Another note most of the cars are pretty ruff when you see them on the big screen.
American Graffiti is playing at Belmar (Alameda and Wadsworth) in Denver, CO on the big screen Wednesday at 7.
i think that was the first movie i seen at a theater when it was a new movie. my parents seen it the night before and my dad came home so excited because it had a chopped merc in it. he had just chopped his the week before.
