Trans or Tork Converter

    Waiting for light to turn green and gave it gas to go. Heard a turbine kind of whirring sound and had no forward or reverse either. Anyone ever had that happen, if so, what would the problem be? Stan

    First you check trans fluid level per factory instructions. Look for leaks.

    no leaks and fluid is red

    I would pull the trans pan and check it for metal- and what kinda car?

    What transmission is it?
    Could be a pump problem. Start by checking pressure.

  7. You'd have been better off stating an answer to the question - "what transmission is it ?"
    Because a. 1987 olds 88 is not a type of trans and its off topic.
