There was a Bar b Q restaurant not too far from my house that for 10 years or so was a hot spot for some very cool cars every Saturday night. I haven't been over there in a couple of years because the new cars and rice cookers with boom boxes were taking over. Well they finally killed the place. I drove by this evening and a lone 68 Camaro in the lot with some new **** all with their hoods open. One, I have seen before, a new model 4 door Impala with so much red, blue and yellow wire and hoses under the hood it looks like **** and his techincolor approach doesn't help.
Gotta start looking for a new place I guess.

  2. glad it's not just us. here it's new mustangs. we have two big mustang clubs that can't stand each other. any cruise in or car show you go to looks like a used car lot. it's getting real old real quick. not to mention the challengers and camaro's sprinkled in.

Yep, Quit going to some here also because the Yuppies with their new corvettes, Mustangs, Camaro"s & Chargers hanging out with their hoods open showing off THEIR TALENTS..

  4. We were in Scottsdale, Ariz not long ago.......went to a Sat nite cruise.......
yep, lots of late model stuff. The rods and antique cars were definitely
in the minority. It's no fun to me looking a big stereo systems that fill the
entire rear section of the car, and other such stuff. The 18 year old
grandson , of course, thought that sorta thing was neat and did know a
bit about features of some newer rides.

I guess places will have to specify what type cars they want to have
show up...........but that would be difficult to enforce.

Our town has no weekly cruises or hangouts for rodders. Twice a year a club will host a cruise and get some out of town folks in here also. Decent little show. But I miss taking to the drive in with my 68 Road Runner or 70 Challenger. Speaking of, if you park my 70 Challenger next to a new one, it makes the new one look fat.
There are some interesting cars around..but the flight to the county 15 years ago by all that were able to shrug off on lower values for city homes means a long drive in. Plus side, we finally got a drag strip, in the country. 20 mile drive to me and no trailer means no test and tune.

A couple of weeks ago at our local cruise spot it was packed with cars. So many that there was no place left to park. We had a brief rain roll in and all of the new Shelby's, Camaro's,Vipers and such left [can't get em' wet you know]. Well, it made plenty of room for the old cars. Hope for just a chance of rain every Saturday now.:D

The new cars are here too but still plenty of old iron, years ago I done some warranty interior work on a almost new Pontiac sunbird convertible and the owner called it a show car and I had to bite my tongue hard after hearing that. I came close to telling the owner to build a old car and no way was his new car a show car.

I went to a show today in Plainfield NJ and the majority of cars were stupid looking tuner cars. There were only about 20 pre-75 cars there. And there were a lot of pre-75 cars with stupid big wheels and speakers in the trunk. When I went there 2 years ago there were 100's of pre-75 cars! They were playing rap and people were break dancing on the hoods of there cars! Yuck! What has happened to the car community!

It all boils down to the place hosting the show. But most the time they only care about ****s in seats and don't care about who shows up as long as they spend money. Even that booming pos tuner car has five bucks stuffed in the ashtray.

I took my 63 Ranchero with my Minibike in back to a show last night, parked next to me was a new Camaro convertible with Lamborghini opening doors! One of the dumbest things I ever saw! It had a lot of attention! Down the way was a few ricers,a Mazda that was missing its front bumper! Then, there's a guy that has a real bad local cable motorsports show just all over this ****py Mazda! He's like 70, I guess he's trying to get young viewers! All I know is every time I drive my Ranchero it gets a thumbs up clean or dirty! Wish I had pics from last night! In some cases this might be true but before I stopped going up there just about every Saturday night I was watching these newbies and most of them would take up a parking spot open the hood so you can see their factory installed hoses and wires, get out their lawn chairs and park their **** and never buy anything. Hell a few brought an ice chest, but the owner put a stop to that pretty darn quick.

I know from my own experience it is darn hard to get a regular cruise night going. We have a place down the road with lots of shaded parking and a patio. I asked the manager about getting something going he said sure! The next week he told me he had called the corporate head quarters and they were even enthusiastic. After being the only one to show for a few weeks I gave up.
