Hey guys, my name is Lonnie and i'm a college student in the great mountain city of Asheville, NC. Though it is far from my 1st project I have just recently aquired a 1959 ford long bed truck with a semi-built 78? mustang 302 and 2 barrel carb hooked up to a column shift c3 auto ******. This will be my daily driver and wrencher along with my 1985 xs 750 custom bike project (not this forum's style, but so be it.) I have seen a lot of gorgeous ford trucks from the same era on here and have stalked forums for quite some time, but since i didn't have a true cl***ic I waited for the time to come before I joined.

Let's start with a few pictures of the brute:

I am in Concord, NC currently, I will be moving back to Asheville within a week or two. I drove all the way to lenoir city, Tn to buy the truck, looked it over and was upset about a few things that were not told to me before i drove out there but still got a fair price and got on the road home...

However going up through the mountain highway of I-40 crossing back into NC and i started to get squirrely in slight turns, my friend called me from behind and said my left rear looked loose so we pulled over.

I sheared a wheel stud, ruined my wheel, almost destroyed the other 4 studs and only had 2 lug nuts left, one barely on the stud. So 130 dollars for a rollback trip later and the truck made it back to a friend's shop to get parked in Asheville.

My main question as a new guy is this: Judging by the hopeful fact that this rear end is original (no pictures i'm sorry) it has no bolts on the back of the axle which i have been led to believe is a indication of an early rear end, where the HELL can I find wheel studs? Everywhere seems to only have front studs for this truck.

Here's to hopefully a lot of great information, stories, and a build thread to come!

    -Lonnie.

if worse comes to worse i'm probably about to have a complete axle coming out of the 62 unibody I just picked up i'd let go cheap. plans are to put jag xj suspension under it.

that's a pretty good looking fridge. I was looking for a 57-60 when I rolled up on the unibody literally 2 miles from my house and 2 miles from the rod shop I work at....ken....
