Alright guys, just picked this up yesterday, I'm gonna need some advice but first some pictures... So all it needs (so far) is some fresh wheels/tires as they are mis-matched with rotten tires and a new fuel line as the old one appears to be clogged. The old guy I got it from has looked after it relatively well, it fired up first time, same as when it came off the trailer, but yesterday afternoon it quit starting. It'll fire right up with a little gas in the carb but not on its own, so that's first priority. So my first two questions: 1) What does the HAMB community think? Worthy here? 2) Where's the best place to pick up cheap wheels and tires for this, is there something late model I can scavenge wheels off for now to get it moving?
Nice car, but it looks like a sedan, not a coupe. Steel wheels and small caps or spiders would be nice.

Yeah the later motor was a big plus when I looked at it. I'm new to this age of Chevy's, can someone explain what makes it a sedan? I figured it was a simple 2-door = coupe and 4-door = sedan but obviously there's more to it lol.
It's really pretty simple. The Coupes have a shorter roof line, and were not considered "family cars". (Kind of like later '2+2' concepts.) Coupe: Two Door Sedan (Note the longer rear window):
Oh ok cool, thanks for the clarification! I had no idea they did differing roof lengths, I thought it was just a 2 vs. 4 door thing. I'm learning already. Ha! Now I have another question, would the stock 18" steel wheels from a 2012-2013 Camaro fit? The stud pattern should be the same but I'm worried about the hub bore... ideas? These wheels are cheap in easy supply... EDIT: How about 15x7 Rally wheels off a 1975 Corvette? There's a set near me I could get for a decent price... those would work right?
You "might" have some clearance issues with that wide of a rim; we had to space the rim out a little for extra clearance on my nephews 51 Bus Coupe I gave to him. Advice? Keep it as close to what it is currently. Nice start just the same. Butch/56sedandelivery.

Stock wheels are very narrow at 5" (think early VW). I don't know what your plans are, but anything much wider can make tire changing very difficult on a lowered car, due to the low wheel opening of the fender. Many people get by with wider wheels, but I have stock wheels and 3" lowering blocks on my '49, and would not care to struggle changing a tire on any wheel much wider.
Good info right there. I have a couple of options locally, a set of Rally wheels, 15x7, from a '75 Corvette or a set of 18 inch factory wheels from a 2013 Camaro. I think the Camaro wheels would look good if they'll fit, I need to get some measurements off one... My plans are to do this on the cheap, I'm talking cheap wheels/tires, new fuel line and some tidying up. After that just rock it around.
I had 17's on my 56 chevy and hated them. they rode rough and were a booger to change. 18's are not the way I would go, and the Rally's aren't the right look for the car, IMO. Be patient and find the right wheels the first time. Look at some pictures of these cars. Lots of them run hubcaps of some kind. Good luck with the car.
