    Hey guy's
hopefully a very simple question for a guy with a little mopar knowledge.
I'm looking for a gear box I can bolt behind a 250 ci dodge flathead floor shift, but other than that don't really know what I'm looking for. It's for an open wheel racer crazy idea I got in my head so don't need to be crazy fast just fun. Any help or ideas greatly appreciated, even some pics if any body done an open wheeler... cheers

You might see what adapters Wilcap has available to connect the engine to a modern gearbox.

Don Coatney adapted a T5 5 speed to his. Complete instructions with pictures are available if you search Don Coatney 5 speed on Google.

You need bellhousing, clutch and flywheel from a manual trans car.

The biggest challenge for those of us 'state-side', is not knowing what your parts availability is like and what your budget looks like. It is easy to offer suggestions but you have to give us some details about what you already have.
Keep in mind that all of the flathead sixes have the same bellhousing bolt pattern but the small Plymouth 201-208-218 has a different crank and uses a different flywheel that doesn't work well with the others so try to avoid them.
With a stock 3-speed bellhousing (NOT fluid drive) the Ford Ranger TOYO KOGYO 5-speed http://p15-d24.com/topic/17737-5-speed-not-t5/
is perhaps the easiest (cheapest) to adapt.

thanks for the ideas guys, your right 73rr I should have mentioned not a huge budget as to having a young family, I have a powerflite bell housing and that is all from the stock motor but would love a stock period manual. the powerflite 2 speeds are common over here although I'm told they are strong I really want a manual. just looking for the type of box and housing I can bolt straight on...

If you have to ship parts then you might be better served shipping the best parts that you can afford, not just some expensive oem stuff.
Perhaps some of your friends can help you source parts locally. At least see what is available (keep a short list) before spending any money.
If all else fails find out when the next container is headed your way and get a small box on it.
