I am going to be putting new brake lines in my truck but the thing is both lines from the master cylinder go into a splitter on the front crossmember. The 2 lines for the front calipers come out then there is one larger line that goes to the rear axle then gets split to the wheel cylinders I am wondering if this is normal because it seems like the front brakes should be completely separate from the rears.

That would be normal for a single res. master cylinder

  3. If you are replacing the lines anyway-spend a few extra bucks and upgrade to a dual master cylinder-your life is worth the money.

Since you say "both lines from the master cylinder go into a splitter on the front crossmember" I am ***uming you have a dual chamber master cylinder. The "splitter" you refer to is probably a proportioning valve. The line from the rear chamber on the master cylinder should feed the front brakes through the prop valve and the line from the front of the master cylinder should feed the rear brakes. Just replace all lines with new and you should be good to go. Don't forget to replace the flex lines both front and rear.
