What rear leaf springs work best on 46 Ford sedan

    Wanting to change out the banjo rear end on my 46 Ford what rearend and leaf springs from what car work good for this switchout

  3. ...are the springs that Ch***is Engineering use. I took more than half the leaves out of that pack just to get some movement in the rear. I cannot recommend those. They fit, they just don't work.

    You need long springs from a similar weight car.

    I used a complete set of springs and hangers from a 54 Ford, then hung a 9 inch rear on them. Good luck finding a set like those today. They were riveted in also which is a pain to remove.
    By the time you buy a kit and a used rear and bearings/seals, brakes etc. you will be in for almost a grand. Not cheep any more.
    I have a 47 that I would like to redo but not sure which way to go.

    I put a ch***is engineering parallel leaf kit under my 46 coupe... Had it under the car in less than 3hrs working alone and is nice and soft... Well worth the money.
