I've never seen a wheel like this and am looking for more info if anyone had any. You may not notice at first but this wheel has a drop center to help put the tire on like any normal wheel but...it's only on one side! It gradually gets deeper as you go around the rim and then flattens out again. Many spokes are laced to the drop center so then are all different lengths. Restoring and getting all the correct length spokes would be difficult. The guy I got it from is pretty knowledgeable and thinks it is Hispano-Suiza. Does anyone know more about this wheel or if other similar wheels exist?

  4. stillrunners, I think you're on the right track with ACD- and I'm leaning towards Cord.

  5. If it's Cord, it will have quite a bit of offset, like a Toronado wheel

Look around the hub for some lettering, at a quick glance I'd say it was Rolls-Royce or Bentley. Bob

The changing drop center is an attempt to keep the tire on the rim.

French idea(?) We have a set of those wheels on our Rosengart delivery van

^^^ I think we have a winner, it must look weird while it's rotating.

Definitely rolls Royce, but the 4 balance weight posts is odd usually the only have three.
The centre of the hub on the car is sprung loaded so the serrations mesh and prevent the wheel nut undoing, you need a special spanner for them

Any idea on size that would arrow down the model, wheel disc is most likely n "Ace" disc a proprietary British manufacturer but may be different if its a Springfield car

Keith, Thanks for posting this photo, any details on the car? The body looks like some German coachwork. Bob [IMG]
