Hey 27pickemup, you got any more pics? I am in the process of building the same thing, I haven't seen many pics of 27 RPUs. grumper
This is the progress of my '27 on a Model A frame. It is Z'd 2" and chanelled another 4". I am running a flathead and banjo rear with a 3spd. ****** (open drive). Tony
Try the November 2005 issue of Street Rodder. Article ***led "Forever Young" has some nice pictures and a good build article of an A frame. I looked at their site, for the article but its not up so you have to go to the paper magazine.
I put a pic of mine on here a while ago. It is still in the shop and some don't like it because it is to tall. It looks better in person than it does in the pic. Check my prior post to see it. I don't have a way to post another right now. It's a 26 on 'A' frame with 48 ford pick up motor mounts a crossmember and a 40 merc flat motor with 2 97's. Open drive line 46 truck rear and 'A' spring. I Like it, road sign floors and all.
those are 33 x 12.5 bfg light truck tires on the back... 295 60 15's on the front. i need to find another tire about 31 inches tall for the back because the light truck tires do not hook..too hard of rubber i am thinking other than that they look cool.
here is a link to a few more pics...http://www.clubhotrod.com/photopost/showgallery.php?ppuser=12623&cat=500&thumb=1
Dam, that`s a good lookin truck! Get outta my head! I`m running 285/70/15 BFG`s or rear & 205/60/15 on front. You do very good work my man!
what issues are their concerning mounting the T body on the A frame?? Any firewall clearance issues?? good looking stuff guys...
thanks keeps me out of the bars...oops the fronts are 195 60 15's i dont know what i was thinking before
I can`t seem to find any pics at that location. You got any more you can post? I`m kinda stuck on a few things and would like a little more inspiration! Did you run a underfloor master? Or did you put in under the dash? Also need to make or buy a windshield frame. I have the posts that I chopped some, but no frame. Any build pics? Again I think that`s one cool RPU!
Very simple mounts. Basically, there a small double gusset on the fronts simillar to a stock mount on the inside of the frame rail & the rears are the same on the inside of frame but connect to the stock rear crossmenber of the body. Firewall issues where not a problem, but then again I went with a Ford motor so no dist clearance problems. Chevy motor or rear dist motors would need a bubble in firewall. It`s what I had so its what I used! If I had a camara worth a **** I would post some pics of the body mounts. Like I say though, very simple!
do you have an e-mail address? i could send some pics to ya there.. most of all build pics are not digital. but i have a few.......... underfloor master yes 78 mustang, 85 corvette front discs, 75 maverick rear, 8' z in the rear 6" drop front axle 48 merc steering column, 37 ford taillights, 72 vega steering box, guide 682c headlight -w- h4 lenses, i cant remember but i think i cut 12" off the bed. ladder bar rear suspention w coil overs i bought my windsheild frame from speedway, a little tweaking it works. now i have to figure out what the hell to do about interior..
Thank`s You can e-mail me at crowley8@cox.net I really do appreciate any pics you might find! I saw the lower windshield frame at Speedway , but haven`t really decided what way to go yet! I say another post on here about a Duvall type frame from a place call Poly-Form and I`m still thinkin on that one, or the one from Speedway! Lots of money for these, but like I say I`m still thinkin! I`m also curious about the inside of the bed on yours. Did you go with wood, or something else? I haven`t shortened my bed [ YET? ] because I can`t decide on that either! Mine is a old touring body so I have room to make the wheels meet at the original bed outlines. I`m on a 108'' wheelbase.
MG-Bs have solid aluminum WS posts, I've seen a guy reshape the bottoms and make a centerpost to make a Duvall type WS.
Paul, Is the windshield stock height? Looks like it - would you shorten it any - since you were able to drive this or would it be too short. I am going to be pretty low in my Touring - I should probably just buy some posts and start cutting.
