I've never done one but I would start at the front and go back. That way if you don't get it just right at least the part you see all the time should be nice and tight

I might be wrong, but I think the headliners on those were held in place by the windshield and the back glass.

  6. They staple in. In the factory in the late 60's we did the front first then the back. Spooned in the sides. Be sure you have it centered. Be sure the listing rods are in the proper holes. Don't over stretch it. Good luck ! We were running 55 cars an hour then and you did every sixth car. One day a week you got the station wagon every twelveth car.

  7. I just glued the edges of mine after hanging it up on the bows. From there, I trimmed the front and back, and then put the windshield/rear trim over it. On the sides, I think you buy windlace to go around. I'm thinking of just buying a few strips of the lowrider type dingle balls and using that as windlace...good luck you'll get used to it. I watched a video on youtube to help me, there are a few up regarding bowed headliner. Really very simple once you get a hang of it.
Oh, and a tip. If you need to put on anything like coat hooks, put just the screw in. Then, feel around for it after the headliner is all glued/tacked. then, take a knife or scissors and make a small cut (small!) and then put it around the screw. Bam, you have your cut spots for coat hooks, dome lights, sun visors, etc. PM me if you need help.

A while back Thommyknocker asked this about his 51(I think) on a thread called upholstery a beginners journey, some of us trimmers helped him thru the headliner and other parts . Look that up and if it isn't enough you can p.m me. The process is the same. Good luck Jack. By the way headliners scare lots of folks ,but they aren't that hard. Normally take me about 3 hours.
