Have You Blown Your Budget?

What is a budget?

 

ive maxed my daily limit on my debit card 3 times this month alone.

 

Are you working for my wife, did she put you up to this?
How do you two even know each other?
I'm starting to get a bad feeling.

 

Budget?budget? We don't need ni stinkin' budgets!

 

i knew i had forgotten a big part of this build!! good thing im always broke!! my budget is not to get scolded by the wife!!

I needed some humour this morning!
'mericans and Brits...two peoples separated by a common language.
(the first, being a descriptor favored by the radio generators of more heat, than light.)

 

No space, no time, no budget. Probably why its taking so long. But the pile of parts is awesome.

Years ago I kept spreadsheets on build expenses....... As I've grown older, I realize I never could stay between the lines anyways.

 

I have two budgets, the one my wife sees and the second one no one sees but me!
And YES I'm waaaayyy over on mine!!!

 

Keep the bottom-line issues in sight at all times:

Hotrod parts will get you through times of no money better than money will get you through times of no parts.

Explain this carefully to wife, dog, and children.
Remind them that they are all too fat anyway, and less money in the food budget is something they should be thankful for.

 

If you're gonna set a Budget, You're just not that into it.

 

Hell, I always come in under my budget for a project ....... the first year.
It's the ensuing years that bust the bank.

Actually, we have segregated accounts for our hobby monies, the house buys nothing for hobbies.
So technically mine's a running cap rather than a budget.

 

Bought my truck for $600 back in the day. That was the first time I blew my budget.

Well, YEAH blew the budget. Isn't that a fact of nature??

 

Nobody ever finished a car and said, "Wow, that took less time and less money than I thought it would!"

 

Budget = lifestyle.... if I ever finish a project I'll let you know. My motto is, "...Sure Buttercup, about another hundred bucks and I should be close to finished..."

 

I look at a build budget as a challenge, set a $5000 budget for the caddy and came in under easily with enough left to paint it (but that wont happen)

I've never add up the cost of everything so i know i'm under budget

 

decided to build a car because i have a shop full of parts, said it would cost less than 10 grand. Ill have that in the motor alone now Budgets are way over rated

 

Haha along time ago an my car still looks like shit! Feel like i just threw the money out the window or something

i just found out that me floors in my 40 ford coupe project should be replaced. there goes about 2400.00 in sheet metal.

 

i set my budget at $100,000 that way i run out of parts and money before i blow my budget

 

No budget. My SO & I are in it together, when we have extra to throw at it, we'll buy stuff.

It will never be "done" IMO anyway.

 

I work at a desk, so I keep a spreadsheet going to track expenses, projected costs, blown money, blah blah blah... It tells me I'm gonna blow my original "get on the road" budget by about 11.2%... that's not really interesting. Really I do it because it makes me feel like I'm sneaking in some work on the car while I'm in my tiny gopher-cube 9-5 each week.

 

Pretty much sums it up !

 

I feel like "build budgets" are more for someone looking to get money out of what your building. If your building your car the way you want it who cares about a budget even if it takes a little longer to get it done.

Always start with a guesstimate of what I might spend, but not really a "budget" of funds to work with. Often it's a scenario where I sold a car or something, and decided to use those funds to build a car. I always go over that amount, just because it's rarely enough, and I knew it before I started.
I just figure if I have a lump to get things rolling, I'll figure a way to generate some more finds as the build progresses. I'm usually close, just not under the amount.
