My uncle gave me these heads, story is someone gave them to him in the 70's... Ive googled the number stamped into the head but came up pretty much empty handed. They're stamped "F8M8.5". I'm ***uming they're 8.5:1 compression ratio? There is some pitting on the mating surface as well as in one of the combustion chambers. Are these things toast, or can the pitting be fixed? They sure do look cool as hell! If usable, what's a fair asking price? Thanks for your help!

Is it normal to see some degree of pitting on the mating surface?

After a search it appears that these heads are for 1949-53 Ford/Mercury engines. Can anyone comment on the pitting? I just don't know how to gauge this type of thing and i don't want to misrepresent them when i put them up for sale.

  5. $350 minus the cost to get them milled and relieved to bring the compression back to 8.5....so.....If I was you I would get them fixed up and either use them or recoupe the cost to fix them...right now they are wall art and not usable
