Going through the cerebreal build stage for a roadster pick-up project i'm gonna do this winter...Using a '36 axle....Need pics on how you guys did the spring perch, spring locating..{on top of the axle, attached to the bones, etc.} and lever shock mounting...Gonna be a suicide set-up....Thanks
Yep, but i'd like to see em with a beam and bones BTW...I did do a search and came up with nothing....I know it's there but..........
http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/search.php? Key word "Suicide" Should find several hundred matches.
Exactly... too much to dig thru. How bout we rephrase the question to: "Post pics of suicide front susp. setups that have interested you or otherwise grabbed your attention, as well as pictoral examples of truly suicidal apparatus that should be held up as examples of truly BAD engineering." There... post pix of those... and spring-on-top, pls. (and forget "generic" tube axles, no pix of those, we see 'em all the time... unless its one you wanna sell me dirt cheap.)
Although not exactly what you are looking for............................. ...................................heres mine!!
Here's a picture of the suicide front end on my modified before I changed the gl*** body to a steel one.
Now, how much is that frontend gonna come down with the weight of the motor, radiator, etc?.....I don't think those springs move much with the weight...See, i'm trying to determine how to mount the spring....On top of the axle, or to the bones....And this in turn will determine if i Z the front of the frame
This is how it is mounted on my current car...{the spring is a little long}, but i'm not sure if this is the way to go on the next one...If the spring is mounted on the top, how much higher will it sit then the one shown here? Is on top a better way?
I hope these pictures tell more. I might need to strengten that part a bit... You know, Cad Flathead is a quite heavy engine...
