Any new info on new cams for the high deck Desoto? There was a lot of discussion around 2009-2010. The word then was that CONTRERAS CAMSHAFTS were making new cams for these motors. I talked to them a year or so ago and no blanks were available and there didn't seem to be any on the way.

I contacted Colt Cams and was told that the minimum order on this type of thing is 100 blanks. The single piece cost would be about $275. This was in 2012 and I talked with Geoff Bardal.

My best suggestion is to track down Donnie Johansen. He made a billet roller cam for me.

cracker head, When was this? Recently? I would spring for the roller if it isn't too crazy priced. I understand that late Mopar roller lifters are workable. Was a special distributor gear installed on the roller cam? Would you reveal your cost? PM me if you would. wmgle@swbell.net

    Thanks, Billk

I have a 330 Desoto in my '50 Merc. It has a TKO600 5 speed and a Ford rear end with 3.55 gears. 9:1 compression. Home built tri-y headers. I have a mild Racer Brown reground cam I got through Hot Heads. I think it is an EH-61 grind. Mild, but a nice cam for what I do. Only street driving. However, it has a 120 degree lobe separation angle. Also the 3 sets of lifters I have had in the motor randomly tick. I'm not interested in a lumpy grind, but if I could get a similar grind but with a smaller lobe separation angle and get better lifters, I would seriously consider it. I think the performance would improve.
