Grand National Roadster Show is my favorite. The upcoming Century of Speed show held at January's GNRS may become the go-to display for many years to come.

Any show small and close with mostly older cars.

Me and the wife always go to shows together. She doesn't move around or ride very well anymore, so we stick to the smaller shows or cruise-ins close by.

We usually linger around the old classics and rods talking with the owners about the details and history of their cars. Slammed trucks, fart canned winged Honda's, cars with 20+ inch wheels, and the like are a total turn off for both of us.

local stuff just because its not the high dollar cars.......stuff that the guys sweat at working at instead of the rich boys having the work done for them. and the old timers bring in their cars.....stories are a plus.....

  7. West Coast Kustoms in Santa Maria, California over Memorial Day week-end. A nice long drive to and from the show adds to the pleasure. ...and it is too far away for most participants to be just a one day event, so it is total immersion with the great cars and folks there.

Most shows around here have turned to plastic.
But I still like the James Dean Run - mostly kustoms which I like best.

  18. The LARS does it for me. Went to the first one at the Hollywood Bowl, and have only missed 2 or 3 three since. No awards or trophies. Just hundreds of great cars and good guys to BS with.

Since Paso is no more, I guess it would be the Throttlers' Picnic. Small, brief, and free, but there are always a lot of neat cars.

KKOA - Salina, KS. Really good show got to see a lot of cool kustoms. People were really nice. More cars than you could look at.All of the legends at the show. On top of that at the show they chop a top on a car while you watch. The GG shows have turn into a money grab to many rules(no dogs).

What possible reason could you have for bringing a dog to a car show?

Grand National Roadster show. More eye candy then one man can see outside of a strip club.

GoodGuys at DesMoines, lots of shade, a trip to Beachgirls strip club, 3500-4000 cars. Local Hooters hosts one twice per year, great scenery and food discounts.

QUOTE(What possible reason could you have for bringing a dog to a car show?)

I don't have a dog. I do have friends that have dogs. They take there dog everywhere. Their dog is a part of their family. Their dog has been to more GG shows than I have. I do not know why you can't take dogs to the GG show. Something could have happened that made them think that it was best to not allow dogs. My friend has since quit going to the GG shows. The GG shows used to be more laid back. It's not that I dislike the GG show, it's just my opinion that KKOA is better.

When filling out the insurance forms, you have to tell them if dogs are allowed.....
if they are, the insurance rates go up. Why?
Because dogs bite people. It is a fact. If people are REALLY needing their dogs to be a part of the family and they are not aggressive, then they should go to the local humane society and see if their dogs can pass the test to become an Emotional Support Dog. As a show promoter this is the only way we can allow dogs.
We could pay the extra insurance, and raise the rates for gate admission....
or simply state no dogs are allowed. I had a very irate car owner at Iron Invasion last year, but I told him exactly this. It was not the answer he wanted to hear, but it is the way of the world. Even if you are not a sue happy person, the insurance companies find out WHERE the dog bite happened, and then the insurance companies try to get the event to pay for the medical expenses.
Bottom line - it is just more simple to state No Dogs than to have to go through all the potential headache.
I suspect KKOA may have some different rules/agreements since it takes place in a public park.

My favorite ones are where cars are MOVING rather than parked. The OCCA Great Labor Day Cruise at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa, CA is my favorite. It went down hill for a while due management changes and such, but it is picking up steam. Last year was pretty good and this year promises to be even better. The cool thing about this show is camping AND cruising. This is the 31st year. Less than 1 month away!!
I think CFAC and GLDC have learned to co-exist.
