Cars : Mater the tow truck :

Talked with Melba Riggs, manager of "Cars on the Route", formerly "4 Women on the route", during the International 66 Festival 2013. She has documentation from Disney that Tow Tater, the aforementioned 51 International Boom truck 170 series is indeed the inspiration for Tow Mater, and Galena street scenes show up as Radiator Springs in the movie.
HOWEVER the animators took liberty to flatten out the tops of the fenders and round out the sides of the fenders like the Chevys and Fords of the era. Therefore the replicas of Mater come from Fords and Chevys, like this 57 Chevy Truck now parked next to Tow Tater in Galena, KS

Compare to the Pixar comissioned vacuum formed plastic body panels on this Chevy dually that has been shortened and narrowed. (also at the Rte 66 Festival)

Compare to the animated cartoon that can stretch.

Whatever make he is, I like him.

That would be a cool build. I'm waiting for "Planes". It's got war birds in it. Toy planes are going to be flying off the shelf. Pun intended.
