I picked this up at a nearby garage sale could not pass it up. Its in the original box but still can't find out much about it. The instruction show it mounts to the driver windshield post. Anyone else have one of these?

"The instruction show it mounts to the driver windshield post." It's a definitely cool item with the original packaging, installed might look kind of goofy though.

I use the "RUDE-LITE" version; it's shaped like the back of a hand but only one finger lights up.

Does it flip up or out? I recall seeing Mini's and Austins with flip up arms for signals. Also Ford AA BB had arms that flip up and out. Neat find!

Cool that this was located here!

How does it help you make a right turn "in safety"?

  20. From the pics on the instructions it looks like an aftermarket signal from the mid 20's.

Right turns are inherently more safe since you're not crossing traffic. That's likely the entire reason this product was produced.

    A life without left turns

Thank you for the link. Loved the story. Three rights make a left, unless you lose count. LOL

As dangerous as left turns are from oncoming traffic, I'm assuming there was a big danger also with drivers from behind attempting to pass on the left while you're attempting to turn left, hence this accessory signal.

Two left turns = One right turn. I know folks who wouldn't have any other way. Most of them come from a planet far away, however. Save your 'gadget find' and add 'modern' turn signals. With as many people new to our surface streets and freeways whose last ride was a beast of burden, every little ounce of added safety (like halogen tail lights or led's) makes praying someone doesn't drive a Hyundai up your tailpipe a little less likely to happen. Me, I love old gadgets and lust for them like everyone else. However, experience dictates a more sinister understanding of what's going on when I leave my driveway. Shit happens. Prepare for it.
