A must do event in August with fine skies almost like a summer day. The event location is good with plenty of space and probably 500+ cars on the oval and surrounding areas.Lots of stalls selling clothing and other rockabilly gear that I usually just walk past looking for the coffee van. After 5 years at this location you would think the organizers could get the car entry right. It was 45 minutes in the line to get in with car owners temperatures and patience both rising.Only one gate open, although more than one entry point could be used.Speaking to other people they had plenty to say about that and that it needs improvement. Anyway onto the cars.A few times when I post US HAMBERS have asked to see Aussie cars so there is a number of Aussie utes, panel vans and wagons scattered through the pics.
It is a 1962-63 Holden that started as a standard 4 door and has been converted to a two door.Nice looking Aussie mild custom. Here is a link to history: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holden_FB
no being an Aussie but think this is an EK EJ holden 1957 era . awesome custom, not a holden fan but when we saw this one yesterday at greaze fest we all said wow what a cool car.Wouldnt have picked the colour off a chart but when you see it you couldnt imagine it a different colour at all .prefect. We paid $90 for to get in for 3 days and felt it was great value ,heck 3 days of rockabilly music hotrods sun and beer cheap value for 3 days.Would we go again , sure thing and got to catch up with some good freinds. We had no trouble getting in took the 59 elcamino Saturday got there about 11am and drove right in, went in the 32 roadster sunday arrived about 10.30 and no hassles at all, but could imagine it as public and show cars all on the same road.
Definitely an FB/EK 1960/61.I think I said 62/63 originally.I should have known better as we had an EJ in 62.The EJ was 62 and EH was 63/65. FE/FC was 1956 to 1959.We also had a 1958 FC wagon. I have attached a picture of an FE ute so you can see the difference.
Thanks for the pics. Last show i went to, was Cooly in 07. First car i ever owned, was an EJ. Many fond memories.
Just spotted this event that you might be interested in. This Sunday 8th - MOCA Qld present the 2013 Muscle Car Spectacular and Concours. Rocklea Showground,
I hope they don't suffer the same wrath from the coppers who turned up in force for the Downshift car show a couple of weeks ago at the same venue. They set up 2 stations with dozens of cops swarming over every car and issuing defect notices. One cop was quoted as saying "when you want lollies you go to the candy store". A Holden rep drove in in a brand new Malloo ute still on trade plates and they went over it with a fine tooth comb apparently. This is a factory car straight off the showroom floor on dealer plates.Apparently he was held up for over 30 minutes and told they would find "something" if they could. Another example of great public relations. http://www.caradvice.com.au/248607/qld-police-target-car-enthusiasts/ Here is the letter written by the organiser to the Premier. http://www.downshiftaus.com/2013/an-open-letter-to-the-premier/
