I'm switching over to early Ford / Lincoln 16 x 4 rims with 5.50 fronts and 7.50 rears - Firestones of course. Rims are black with trim rings and 46 Ford hubcaps. Question is should I run wide whites or blackwalls?
Are you still going to leave the car with the 4 wheel drive stance?,,if so go black wall,,but that's my opinion. HRP
I'm a whitewall kinda guy so that gets my vote. I agree with HRP, the nose needs to come down a few inches. Don
Car will be lowered shortly. SoCal hairpins and a CE dropped axle in boxes. Need to work through my steering setup....mid 50's Chevy truck box and column that's just not right. Planning a vega upgrade.
Oh,don't get me wrong I am a big proponent of wide whites but the car just has to sit right like my pal Jim's Model A. HRP
I find the mismatched width of whitewall areas on those 2 sizes to be distracting. The 750 white strip is just too wide, it looks like a clown car (in AACA terms) Skip the big and "too" little, that is more of a 70s thing...IMO
To each their own,,personally I love the big's and little's,,black walls or whitewalls. I'm sure you won't approve of the whitewalls on my pickup. HRP
It seems a blakwall/whitewall poll comes up every few weeks. I always vote for whitewalls, and yes I am East Coast. When I was a kid all my bikes had them.
Whitewalls once it sitting right. If you cant decide, put wws on one side, and blackwalls on the other side. Lol.
I love whitewalls like everyone else, but a blue car with black wheels and caps/rings NEEDS blackwalls.
Black walls.... I believe white walls go better on kustoms. and yes, the whitewalls on my 34 were the second thing I got rid of
Depends on the car and wheels for me. Lighter car and wheels... Black walls. Darker car and wheels... White walls. I like the contrast.
Hopefully you will allow my personal opinion that I have stated a few times. I do not think I have ever seen a hot rod with wide whites that were an improvement in looks over blackwalls. On some cars especially early ones really wide whitewalls make the car look cartoonish, if it was my car, and I know it is not, it would not have whitewalls. Just my opinion which in the overall scheme of things does not really matter.
Had Firestone whites on an A sedan, loved them. Just got tires in for my coupe project, Firestone black walls. That tire looks so good either way. In my young opinion, white walls are so cool, but black bias ply just plain look tough... Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
