Well couple years back I got in an accident with my El Camino. At first glance, all I saw was just body damage. Basically the whole front end was smashed, but the engine was ok. excluding the fan and water pump. I've recently took the everything apart and started to fix it. And I noticed that the passenger side of the cab is offset. The force of the accident pushed the fender into the cab and threw it of by about half an inch. I'd like to do everything i can at home myself, but is this a job for a body shop? Any info is appreciated Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
That was a huge concern of mine. But, Luckily my El Camino was lower than the pick up i ran into. It barely nicked my bumper. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I would take it to a good body shop with a good frame machine and have them pull your cowl back out until the door closes good, and the fender fits good again. Does your door hit the rear quarter, if it does, it needs pulling by a frame machine.
Yea the door rubs. By any chance, would you know how much that usually runs? Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
I wouldn't be surprised if the body wasn't off from the factory. It's a known flaw with some of the newer B-bodies, maybe Chevelles/Elcos were the same?
I'm sorry I didn't get back to ya, but I can't see it being more than 2 to 3 hundred if it was really bad, but don't quote me.
