Anybody have any info on the possibility of swapping out my 49's 216 for something a little out of the ordinary - like a Buick straight 8, or Pontiac straight 6? I know the 235/261 is a drop in, just wondering if there are other interesting and relatively easy swaps? Also would like to use an AX15 trans that I have instead of a T5. Will swap to an open drivetrain of course.
Better do some measuring of your engine compartment, the 248 and 263ci buick are 37" long from the water pump pulley to the back of the block, the 320ci is 41".
Thanks airhead, that's what I wasn't sure about. just a wild thought after i found a straight 8 that I could get for next to nothing. probably more effort than I want for little gain other than uniqueness.
The Buick 8's also had a Dynaflow trans, which would require an adapter to put it on anything else. That'll add length to the engine/trans combo as well.
