    c'mon guys!!! rat rodzzzzzz rule!!!!!

    haha

the next question is, what kind of car are you planning on painting this "amazing mother nature in a can" color?

    lemme guess......

a 74 4 door dodge dart?, maybe a honda civic? those are 2 choice picks for ratrods....

if you want somethin rusty run it in bare metal, and drive it everyday. if yer gunna do somethin do it right. painting your car to look rusty is like gluing hemi valvecovers on a sbc..... tacky.

This fake rust is on a gl*** Willys coupe. They took a latex mould off a rusty car. Filled that mould with wet bog and once cured attached it to the fibergalls Willy and then painted it to look like rust.

Unkl Ian The "plate all" guys said they did have a guy paint his Corvette
with all br***. That must of been fun to buff out... :D

Don't put real woodgraining in the same boat! It was on many old cars
Fake or not , its just the way it was.
Now that dirty diaper woodgraining that folks smear all over their parts is another story, kind of like the monster garage stuff

This is how woodgraining was done.

  9. Simple way to get instant surface rust on bare metal is to use apple cider vinager. Ive used it. Just get all oil off the surface and rub some on and let it sit.

Hey Kriptic, See what you started. I guess I'll keep it going.

Your car looks really cool with the rust the way it is
(Somebody sanded it to bare metal a long time ago and just left it that way. Super straight and no rust thru).

At least you are wanting to protect the integrity of the metal without any further detoriation. But after seeing the car, I can tell why you want to keep "the look".

Good luck on your project, it's going to be pretty cool!!!

That technique has been around for decades. Mostly used on dashes & side panels of metal "woodies".
What I'd like to do is swirl paint a car. You know the way paint swirls on top when you start stirring it. Saw an article on how to do a model like that once - you put the body in a water-filled container & swirl the paint over it & lift it up through the paint (never tried it).

When i was a dumb *** kid i tried it. Looked pretty cool after you cleared it and detailed it out. It still looked like a hippy car though.

  17. Woo hoo! finally somebody broached the subject, How can I make my steel car look like it's made of painted fibergl***?

thirdyfive, I'm in pain from laffin so hard!!!!

Years ago, Dr.Ru (striper) went by the name "Overdose" and did bikes with the dip technique. Called it the "easter egg paintjob". Squirt lacquer with a lil retarder over the water and pull out the tank. Yeah man...real 70's. I don't woodgrain with rollers or photo transfers. I use brushes.

Anything anyone wants to do can be done. Just SEE IT before you get there. Fab, paint, finish on metal. If you can't "see it" 1st in your mind don't bother.
