I need a good shop to do polishing and plating on early ford suspension parts. I would like to find some one that will do a better than average job in Kansas, Iowa, Minnesota. Any help would be appreciated.

Find chromeplaterjosh here on the hamb, he and his dad have a shop outside Indy and from what I have seen do really nice work for a good price!!!

  3. If you are going to ship your parts by UPS it doesn't cost that much more to send them as far as they need to go. Josh has a good reputation.

Although I don't personally work for the shop anymore, I can still recommend it. It has always been my Dad's shop and my dad and 2 brother's are running it just fine without me. I have moved back to MI for a great new job (not plating, sorry) and new adventures.

Here's the chrome shop's contact info:

    Custom Metal Finishing IN
    9705 State Road 38
    Hagerstown, IN 47346

    866-489-4089
    www.ChromePlatingIN.com

A great example of the shop's work is in the link below. I get a lot of the credit because I am more extroverted than all the rest of the family, and although I did the polishing and repair work, it was my Dad and brother who made it possible. It's not "Josh's Chrome Plating," lol.

Perhaps in the future I will return to custom plating, or if I'm foolish enough I might even start my own shop, but I'm not there yet.

I am still very willing to share my custom plating knowledge with all who desire to pick my brain. It keeps me from forgetting things; as well as regular visits to the chrome shop and troubleshooting with Dad and brothers over the phone.

Another vote for Custom Metal Finishing. I Have had several things plated there all shipped in/out from MI. They are reasonable and it's done within their stated timeframe. What more could you ask for?

they did a very fine job for my SPL311 1600 Roadster...

I'll use them again..when I find some bumpers for my Merc...

Got a very reasonable quote on some stuff although I have yet to pull the trigger. Word on the street says that their product is really good & the free shipping doesn't hurt either.

Thanks Guys for the help. I think I will use Josh's family. They are talking up to 12 weeks but I guess I have been at this for 6 years now so a small delay isn't that bad. My problem is I hate to send my parts out of the garage. I am more concerned about them getting lost than anything else.

If you have a little car with good gas mileage, you could probably make a road trip cheaper than the shipping costs of big suspension parts. Then if the parts get lost, you are lost along with them.

I can personally recommend Josh's Dad's chroming as well.

Advance Plating in Nashville does all of my plating. I have used others but I have never gotten as good of work from them as I do from Advanced Plating.

Awesome! My dad started Custom Metal Finishing Indiana in 2004. I can't believe its been that long already. He had his own shop and partnered with his brother going back into the 90's in West MI as well.
