Its been awhile since I have posted some updates and I know others have made some progress (especially your Sedan guys who are buidling...) Got the body back on the frame this weekend, brakes plumbed and the MC bleed... gas tank stand is in and its about ready for wiring (this week hopefully). So what have you done..
Well, since having back surgery three weeks ago tomorrow (monday) I've accomplished a lot of sitting in front of the computer, thinking, reading, catalog ordering, etc. nothing at all on the truck (removed a few cobwebs, if that counts)? I did clean up the garage a bit, swept out under the truck, thought about how I'm going to accomplish a few tasks without heavy lifting, etc. The doc tells me I should be able to do about 15 minutes of LIGHT body work starting the end of the month, so that's pretty cool. In the mean time, I've been designing my sheetmetal brake, and some other parts. Moral: DON'T hurt you back. Ben
&%&*?! drivin it and lovin every minute of it. http://www.directimagehost.com/is.php?i=115058&img=DSC02785.JPG http://www.directimagehost.com/is.php?i=115060&img=DSC02789.JPG http://www.directimagehost.com/is.php?i=115059&img=DSC02786.JPG
Trying to work out an interior that's not your standard T-bucket puffy pile of vinyl. It's all just temporary but it's a start.
Tore off the intake, carb, and exhaust on the Caddy Flatty.... Man what a trippy set-up! No bolts holding down the exhaust, just nuts and pressure from these bar/clamp thingies! Weird but friggin' cool. Think I'm gonna go down to the local foundry and have them cast the intake in aluminum, and add the "Y" adapter from vintage speed to 86 the Carter 2Bbl and replace with two 94's. BTW does anyone know the CFM on the Carter WCD? Might run two of those if it will put out more CFM. Should shave a good 15 lbs off of the motor?.
I have been pushing hard on my 31 A-coupe. Got the frame relatively done...got the motor in for the first time and the body too to get the pedals where they need to be before I make the center crossmember. Im shopping for a few needed parts to have for mock up so I can finish all the frame work. Im torn if I should do a slight channel (4") or keep it a high-boy... here are some picts....Im hoping to be driving my X-mas.
some great work going on......... but there must be more, winter is about to start, I know there are other projects lurking out there..
just dropped the engine/trans back in the caddy last week. few things left to connect then it's on to figure out why the brakes aren't working to well, followed by some body work, shaving and dropping.
Im about to pick up my Deuce 3W from the upholsterer this week sometime. Will post pix when I get it back....should look Ok I hope !! Rat
Pretty much planning my winter at this point.... Two projects in the works. Finally finishing my interior on the coupe by installing new side panels to match the design of the seats .. and can't wait to start my new pickup! Boones, I pm'd you! Great looking stance on the sedan by the way!
got a seat to replace the redneck buckets i had, still waiting for some parts so i can start on the rear end lowering project, saving up for the front end parts.
Picture is kind of dark but I got the V8 in the chevy using Ch***is Engineering mounts. Last night the body came off the frame and I started wire wheeling the ch***is. Hope to get the ch***is painted before it gets too cold. Ahh the glory of hotrod building, laying on your back wire wheeling a rusty frame. At least I get to do it in a garage.
Tracked down several engine problems, stopped the brake fluid leak, zip tied some wires, and drove it over to pick Mrs. Stickfigure up from work on Sunday. Time to start saving for new tires.
Got my new gas tank and sender for the 56. Its in, but not finished. One of the attachment bolts wont line up, so that has to be fixed. The new tank from LMC is not an exact copy. The bolt location are wider and the whole tank seems a little wider and the bolt holes for the sending unit are larger(and they don'e send screws), but since it was $50 cheaper that the next place I will deal with it. Next on the list is getting a piece of line made and fire it up.
My '62 Impala-bought the new 1/4 panel from FlatTop here on the hamb. The next step though will be a handle shave with pops on front and filling the trim holes with metal. Should be finished by Pn'P. Rebuilding leaky carb but that doesn't sound as cool. 83' PK125-The guy with the Vespa at South Austin Speed Shop's opening inspired me-the 'Strega' project should start this winter (transplanting the 125 engine from the taco-ed and totalled scooter frame to a bobber frame)Before the accident, the PK125 could top out at 65mph STOCK. Doesn't sound all that fast but for a old scooter, it rocked. Switching out the topend for a Pollini, doing exhaust, blah, blah, blah
looks good man- you are really going to put fenders on that thing? - I am coming, got my headlight bar and front shocks sorted last night. It is all welded and done. Need to do my floor, get my pedals adjusted to the floor, and then get some frame paint and body primer going. Then we'll be racing man.
im just doing a bunch of small stuff before i start putting everything together. that way when i go to put everything together ill be able to slap it all together!
Great looking sedan. My sedan is about a week away from coming apart. I got the floor finished and just have to get the hood mounted and that's it. I will take it all apart and get the ch***is painted and then start on the body. I plan on having it driving this coming spring. I will be posting allot of pix as I start going back together as it begins loking like something. Weather I can afford $2000 for paint or $20 for paint I will be driving it in the spring. Looking forward to the winter for once.
