Mild custom dashboard build a 1934 coupe. The customer asked for the dash face panel to be lent back 1 to 1.5".So i split the panel as you see in the first pic and mocked up 1" 'air gap' with the option of removing the clecos and going further to 1.5"(not shown here). After taking the panel home and offering it up to his car he settled for 1" lay back. We then grafted in 1" of metal and 'metal finished' so it looked as though it came from the factory that way. Total time from 'mock up' to completion 14 hrs
I always like these kind of modifications,,on the surface most people would never know anything was different but that's the beauty in doing all the hard fabrication and doing it correctly. Job well done. HRP
As a fabricator and a metal finisher, I always love looking at well done, clean work..and I always try to learn something. What is your grinding/finishing process if you dont mind me asking. Kind of looks like you started with a dyna file
Thank you, that's the reason im on these forums to check out how others execute things, you can never stop learning. I zip the top off the weld off ,plannish the weld and then file.I then 'wipe' over with a disc on an air sander.Just to dampen down the file marks really. thanks for looking!
Great work Jon! Like HRP I really like these types of subtle mods. Posted using the Full Custom H.A.M.B. App!
