Finally bit on a "different" phaeton - black 1950 Willys Jeepster. Hope to have it ready for the 2013 Cheaterama at the Terminal (brew city). Last steel phaeton made in USA, almost as basic as the AV8 roadster I just couldn't swing. Thx to the Nite Owl for those great shows but it was getting too crowded - I'll still be coming for those great burgers. Now I need to figure out how to keep this thing on the road - original except for some interior butchery (to be fixed) and a Buick V6 / auto (keep if I can). Will keep as original as possible - fix rust but keep paint where it's still mostly on. I'm no mechanic, so any tips re Milwaukee guys who really know this stuff would be greatly appreciated. I have pushed more great cars than many have driven, but not by choice! Oldcarsmell
Thanks for your support and we hope to see you at Cheaterama even though you smell like old cars! Can you please post a picture of your new machine?! Sincerely - CheaterCarl.
Wouldn't mind if I did smell a bit more like 'em. It's the one thing all the oldies I've owned or ridden in have in common - burned oil + horsehair + ???. Puts a smile on my face. The only pic I have is the ad from where I bought it, which may not be cool to post but I'll try. Will take plenty more when it gets here and plan to drive it to the show. Thx for the interest!
I heard it's August 24th @ The Terminal on S. Howell Ave (Milw or Oak Creek, WI). It was at the Nite Owl Drive-in until this year. Not sure of start/finish time. It was always in full swing mid afternoon when I showed up and going strong when my wife dragged me away before dark. Others can confirm details.
More pics of Jeepster. Old and scarred but so am I. You should look so good at 64. OK - one pic. The rest are too big but how many can you look at anyway?
